artwood
I want to wrap my bike and have been contemplating doing it myself, but am a bit hesitant as it would be my first time, and that main fairing seems a bit intimidating. I reached out to 4 local auto-wrap places for quotes, and the first one just came back...$611! What in the holy hell? I'll obviously wait to see what the others say, but if they are anywhere near this, I'll just do it all myself. What kind of quotes are others getting for just wrapping the main fairings (gas tank) and 2 parts of the front fender?
Premium Member norcal616 Posted February 27, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted February 27, 2018 I don't recall much about vinyl wraping...seems like 99% either paint or wrap themselves with various degrees of luck depending on patience ... it's quite a chore to wrap the bike pieces due to all the angles compared to a car... $450-700 seems about ballpark for a wrap job for just the gas tank color pieces and the front fender side pieces...who knows how they based the quote, maybe they thought they need to break down the bike? It's also like $300 ish IIRC to buy new color panels. .. 2015 fz-07- Hordpower Edition...2015 fj-09- 120whp- Graves Exhaust w/Woolich Race Kit- tuned by 2WDW
topazsparrow
Dude, do it yourself. It's easy. 5' x 5' is plenty and only costs 100 bucks. Grab a heat gun and take your time. You can do each section in a single piece = no seams to mess around with. If you pre-stretch the material and get a feel for the tougher spots (convex surfaces) with some test pieces it turns out great. You could do it 3 times over for what the shops charge.
