shinyribs
Hmm...I see the Nikken as more of a FJ 09 (bigger tail vs a FZ09 )with a funky front end. The FJ 09 comes in wet at 465 lbs already. FJ 09 + another pair of forks( 20lbs for the pair- what I've weighed in the past) + another front wheel/tire/brake( roughly 30lbs) +all the mechanisms to make it work (I'm guessing easily 30 lbs) + massive fairing with "fenders" (Gonna guess around 20lbs for weight of the fairing plus innerstructure over an already existing FJ fairing ). 465 20 30 30 + 20 ------- 565 lbs. The tank on the Nikken probably gets big to meet the fairing. Add that dingleberry on the rear tire and the car-like mirrors, I'm gonna guess...around 580 lbs? shinyribs
This Yamaha rep described it as similar to a Super Tenere in weight. What does a S10 weigh? Edit: 2018 Super Tenere specs at 575lbs wet

rider
My question about the Niken is, WHY?
faffi
Why not? I think it is good that they think outside the box. Current motorcycle riders are getting very old, but not too old to still enjoy riding. If we are to have good motorcycles made also in the future, those making them must make money. The best way is to grow the market, and I think it is good that they try. http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-california-motorcyclist-profile-20140825-story.html
shinyribs
If you watch the videos about the Niken, they explain the reason was for more front end grip. The tilting action of the front end is completely free ( zero resistance ), so the Niken still has to be balanced like any other motorcycle. The more I see it, the more I like it. Which really surprises me.
