Robp
Installed a fender eliminator 2 weeks ago. All tested great fine no issues with break lights or signal lights. Bike rode great. Today want to go for a ride but no break light, check engine light is now on and the bike revs at 3000. Any one else experience the issue? Electrical? Fuse? The ignition switch returns to run position.
Premium Member i28 Posted October 23, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted October 23, 2017 No break light with the rear brake only? (check the brake light switch) No break light with the rear brake andthe front brake too? (check the fuses) If the idle is at a high RPM then check for a vacuum leak https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/how-to-diagnose-and-fix-an-intake-leak Edit: take Eastern Kayakers advice before mine. Premium Member Eastern Kayaker Posted October 23, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted October 23, 2017 The check engine light with the higher rpm’s, may mean your starter switch is stuck. If your bike starts as soon as you turn the ignition key to ON and the check engine light comes on when you pull in the clutch, this is your problem. Several FZ-07 owners have experienced this issue and replaced the spring inside the starter switch with a slightly heavier gauge spring. A quick fix is to sometimes jiggle the starter switch to free it from sticking. There is a tutorial on this forum showing you how to do the new heavier spring fix. When you did the fender elimination did you make any electrical cuts in any wires?
