Hordpower Airbox

So I am just trying to get this straight. So the PCV map that he provides, is it the same FILE TYPE as the ones you can download from Power Commander site? And does it function the same way? As in can be used to offset a stock based map?

Yeah I reduced the engine breaking on mine and it makes the bike loke 1000 times better. Also lowered the fan temps and changed a few other things. I am interesed in this thing but just need to know if I am able to flash it my self like before using a PCV file. I am not going to pay someone else to do it when I already have software and know how to do it myself.

It's a PCV file that's built off of the stock OEM tune... That means the PCV file he sends if you are using the PCV(not going the ECU flash route) your ECU needs to be in OEM settings for fuel/ign, etc...

No he will not give out actual ECU bin flash files as they are considered proprietary...

Best of luck...

There's no way to prevent people from sharing a PCV file so I just give it away.  However, flash files are copy-protected by the FT ECU software and can't be shared.  So I prefer to keep what I have worked very hard to develop all mine.  If I just gave away the flash file then any fly-by-night flash "service" could flash someone's ECU and take their $$, using my work.  Ain't gonna happen.  Developing a good flash file is way more complex than a PCV file.  And using a PCV file imported into FT ECU doesn't work very well.

Why is that exactly? Just because you're dealing with the ignition, TPS maps, etc etc on top of just the fueling?

Yes, there are a bunch of extra parameters that you can modify.

Are there any plans to make an airbox for a big bore kit? Would the airbox need to be changed at all?

Hi Hordboy,

How well does the ftec ecu auto tune work with the hordpower box and full akra ti compared to having you flash it?

Also, this is for an xsr700. I'd assume no issues for that difference.

Thanks,

Rob

I don't know.  I have not used FT's activetune.  From using other auto tune stuff from other companies, it can be very hit or miss.  Depends a lot on how well you set it up and how much rein you give it.

Anyone got a video or advice for just cutting the airbox out?

I didn't find it as hard to remove in one piece as I've read it to be.  I just removed the tank, the throttle bodies and the clutch side frame trim piece just above the pedal to give me just enough room to slide it out. I didn't have to remove the intake boots from the cylinder

From what I could see it would have been as much or more work to get enough room to cut it up and much more likely to cause accidental damage.

Thank you for that! I'm going to have to look for tips/guides as I got the Carbonsmith but imagine its roughly the same install.

Although the Yamaha manual suggests it, I didn't need to remove the tank to get the airbox out in one piece. Removing the tank will give you a bit more room to work with though.

You have to remove the left hand frame cover, and I did have to remove the rubber intake boots from the head - I found this to be the most fiddly bit with the limited room and tight fit of the airbox.

After that you can slide the airbox out to the left side by jiggling it around a bit.

Don't try to rush it and you'll be fine.

So I guess each of us will need to determine if removing the tank is more or less work than removing the intake boots from the head is easier I guess. 🙂 ✌️

That's all it really takes. I found it pretty simple to get OEM box out in one piece, I'd give it 2 beers on a 6er scale 😅

I have a hordpower airbox and want to replace the filter with a new K&N filter but I have no idea what filter fits. Does anyone know what filter I need?

Funny that your name is, "The_Hoarder" and you need info on the HORDE airbox, lol.

I think it's a special unit.  Call Horde, and they should have one or be able to get one.  I got one from them earlier this year.  And need another, now that I think about it... I'll race you to it.. lol
