My first street bike was a 1972 Yamaha RD 250 that I rode the hell out of for several years, and I still remember how fun and zippy that little smoker was.  What was your first street bike?  Unfortunately I don't have a pic of my bike, but here is one I grabbed off the net.  It looks just like mine did back in the day.

Wasn't the '72 still a DS7? Always imagined the RD designation came in 1973, but I could be mistaken.

Hey faffi, I looked it up and you are correct it is a DS7--my mistake--it was so long ago that I had forgotten. :-[

2013 Honda CBR250R. Put 20K miles in the first year we had it. Then put another 10K with the wife before we sold it. Lane splitting was a piece of cake on that thing. So tiny!

Learned a bunch on that sucker. Definitely love the increase in power once we got the FZ. Trying to go 65 MPH+ felt like the thing was going to die.

At least we have become old enough to forget - the alternative is worse ;D

2011 Ninja 400.

It was a good learning bike. High mileage, rough fairings, had its quirks, but fun to drive. I miss certain aspects of it. The button layout was much better than the FZ. The seat was also better. It was heavy though, harder to lean/flick and remarkably less stable than the FZ despite the weight. One thing I knew was that I didn't want a 650.

Couldn't agree more--like they say--every day above ground is a good day. ;D

Bought a new 2005 ZZR  600. Loved that bike, I put 40k miles on it before I sold it when the economy tanked in 08.

Not my bike in the photo but they were all the same color.

My first motorcycle that I could legally ride on the street was my 1982 Yamaha XT200J, a 4-stroke, single-cylindered dual-purpose bike made for both street and dirt riding.

I rode it everywhere.

The first motorcycle I had that was a bona-fide street-only bike was my 1993 Yamaha XJ600SE, AKA the Seca II.

I rode it everywhere (on pavement, only), too.

Same model, same year - hence the screenname. :)

Mine was the 72 R5 350 same color schema, turned that into a TR3 street legal but not club cafe legal ;)

First bike was a 2015 Honda CB500F. Only had it one season before I decided I needed more power on the highway, but it was a great bike. Very comfortable, great milage, looked great too. Peppy enough around town, but I commute too much on the highway and it lacked passing power. Honestly if it had a little more umph I likely would have kept it, but the FZ 07 was the logical next step for me. My local dealer has a cool buyback program on low displacement bikes if you trade up the following year, so I scored big time on the Yamaha and wouldn't have it any other way

First bike I've owned was a 1996 Yamaha FZR 600.  I remember being amazed at the performance since I learned to ride on a borrowed Honda XR650L lol

Late to arrive, but happy I'm here.  2016 FZ-07.  Almost bought a 1999 Valkyrie off of the showroom floor at age 20, but the paperwork didn't go through for 4 days and I found a lightly used Suburban for a steal in the interim that I couldn't pass up.  In retrospect it probably was a good thing since I was commuting 80 plus miles one way to work in Atlanta at the time.  I most likely would have crashed that bike within months.

If dual sports count it was a 1983 XL185 when I was 14 years old. Guy I got it from left the plate on it so I rode that thing all over Gods green earth with no license of any kind. Got away with it for quite a while but all good things come to an end. And have a fine attached to them.

Bunch of other plated off road bikes after that so I could ride the MCCT trails.

But if dual sports don't count it's the FZ-07! LOL!

Are we talking street legal? Or proper street bike? My first bike ever(2006? Was a 1975 honda xl70. Put 10,000 city miles on the bike in Austin texas. Dropped it many, many times.  Learned some important and painful lessons on that little bugger. Still have fond memories of that POS. This picture was of my actual first bike. Yes, i kept it in the living room of my lof apartment lol.  But my first real street bike was a 1994 gsx600f (katana). I did 15,000 miles on that bike. I still kinda want anothet one lol. Comfortable bike. Had some other stuff, mostly junk.

1986 Honda Rebel 250. Got it for free in 2014, rode it twice, decided to chop and hardtail the frame....it's still in pieces in my friend's garage. It needed a lot of engine work because it sat outside in florida for a long time. The engine is ready to go all shiny and new, just needs a frame to attach it to. Maybe one day I will get her back on the road.

A 1985 Honda VT500C Shadow that was also my first build. Don’t worry this pic was during the build, i aimed the headlight after.

The way I see it, if it's street legal then it's a street bike even though it's a street & trail bike. My best friend taught me to ride my first 'geared' bike on a little Honda 70 just like yours, only his was yellow. His took a beating too. Tough little bikes!

I've always wanted to ride one of those

Summer of 1970 - a 1965 Honda CB72, aka 250 Hawk.

It was never as nice as this one.
