New rear hugger

Hey guys I've got some time off so I'm going to build a new usable rear hugger. One that protects the spring and more. Any suggestions or anything you'd like to so I'm open

I'm pretty sure we could any particular reason. I've got some ideas about adding a break and running light on it so that we can use the intagrated tail lights and rear break down on the hugger with led turn signals on the tail tidy. Technically the actual break running light is far enough away from the turn signals to make it DOT approved

Make it like a motogp hugger as seen on the moto3 bikes so it leaves the shock and links uncovered and accessible, especially the rear shock clevis. I'm running the extended CF hugger with a homemade lower and it's effective at keeping most debris from coming forward but it's not my idea of ideal. Any way, just my thoughts so if it's as I'm imagining then I wouldn't need to make my own.

Well I'm ordering my equipment this week so I'm more than happy to do some custom work. I wanna make custom rear huggers and fenders and all that for people

I will once I get it built. That's why I'm asking people for ideas and what there looking for that way I can build some custom stuff. But one big thing is it will not be like the oem one that allows everything to hit the spring

What materials do you plan to use for these huggers?

I have the Ermax rear hugger and have considered mucking around with some Kydex to use as an extension.

Aluminum to start with but once we get going where going uv resistant carbon fiber

Also there not gonna be small little things just to keep dirt and water off the spring there gonna be made to function..to keep water and much off the rider as well
At least that's what I want each person is different that'll be the nice thing we can build it the way people want

Me to. I figure I'm off for awhile cause I had to have emergency surgery and no it wasn't cause I wrecked sadly. I wish at least it would be a cool story. But most the stuff I already have to make this stuff I've just got to get a few other things

If this works out and if you want, I know a certain forum owner who could make you a vendor and help you sell a ton of these..

My home made hugger. Was made as a set of increments until I got the shape and purpose I wanted so the outside doesn't have a single carbon layer than would have looked better.
Next time 2 internal layers of innegra substituted for all carbon.

I have an idea to put some dragon carbon with kevlar on the bottom to make it heat resistant. I also want to use this same material with aluminum to make some special side panels to protect the tank and back side of the bike. But this will come later

Awesome I just got done reading about innegra. I'll definitely be adding a few layers to my carbon fiber to make it stronger and more impact resistant. I'll make the tank and side of the bike protectors with some of it. They have it made with innegra and and carbon and innegra and kevlar. Mixing those on the taken protectors will definitely make it very strong and help protect the bike better. I might even use some of it for my jackets. Pretty neat stuff

So anyway I wanna update everyone. But I'm working on this still. I ordered some from from the local dealer and come to find out there's different types of aluminum. The first one i tried to make started out fine but as soon as I started bending into shape it broke. Come to find out there's different grades of aluminum. 6061 does not bend for crap it snaps I even tried the English wheel to work it and as soon as I got to the smaller wheels it snapped it clean off
