russellness
Hey guys, Does anyone know of a box/compartment that can take the place of the rear seat? I'm envisioning the rear seat comes out, box uses same mounting points and is lockable. Was thinking it'd be a stylish way to get a little lockable storage without really disrupting the lines of the bike. Heard of something like that? I know there are little bags that can attach to the straps built in to the rear seat, but not quite what I'm looking for. Thanks
russellness
Or just a plastic cover that takes the place of the rear seat and expands the under seat storage?
Global Moderator sorkyah Posted July 14, 2016 Global Moderator Share Posted July 14, 2016 Or just a plastic cover that takes the place of the rear seat and expands the under seat storage? Hepco and becker sells a latching luggage rack that replaces the stock pillion seat it looks to be of.decent quality http://www.motomachines.com/Hepco-Becker-Sportrack--Yamaha-MT07-FZ07_p_4901.html I believe @motomachines is still a vendor here as well ATGATT... ATTATT, two acronyms I live by.
twowheeladdict
Corbin does that for some bikes. Smuggler trunk. For some reason they decided to make a cruiser seat for the FZ 07 so not sure if they will make a smuggler trunk. 2015 FZ-
Premium Member avanti Posted July 16, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 16, 2016 I cannot see that it would be that big a deal to mold a fiber-glass top (cafe-racer or Hayabusa-esque style, perhaps) to attach to a Yam seat/cover bottom-plate and have what you want. I've molded similar glass pieces over the years; it just takes time to create a really good buck (usually out of wood) for casting the mold and go from there. motomachines
On that Sportrack linked above by /u/sorkyah you could attach a variety of cases that are fully lockable, though I am unsure if you're willing to go down that top case road. Another option would be the Rear Street Softbag, that attaches magnetically, and has an available lock availalbe if interested.http://www.motomachines.com/Lock-it-Rear-Street-Softbag-for-Sportracks_p_4748.htmlhttp://www.motomachines.com/Combination-Lock-for-Tank-Bags-and-Soft-Bags_p_5099.html OR You could always fashion up your own lockbox onto the mount that we could provide to you:http://www.motomachines.com/Lock-it-Tank-Ring-For-Sportrack--Complete-Kit_p_4714.html This would provide you with a mount to attach to the Sportrack, and a magnetic attachment to the box of your choice.
