Wholesale Dealer Cost

I don't think shopping around will help much, given that there are so few of these bikes yet. They sell very fast, so who in the right mind would be throwing their profit away? Now, in a few months it might be a different story, look at the FZ09 prices. I could literally get and FZ09 with the OTD price less than that of the FZ07. It sucks to wait but it sucks more to see the same bike selling for $1K less, one or months after you buy it...

It's definitely true there is a demand but that doesn't mean you still shouldn't do some due diligence to save yourself even $100. I would at least inquire the nearest dealers just to see. $100 could be used towards a tail tidy  8-)

My local dealer wants like $8600 out the door, There is another dealer about 30 min south that wants $8300... Anybody in WA state know a dealer that has a decent price?

After NJ 7% tax, title, and tags I was happy to be the first to cut a check for $8100. to get my copy of what could be Bike Of The Year. It sat in the showroom for less than a week and was the only one left in my state unsold. You can't blame dealers for not discounting these gems.

Dealers are having a field day, my precious.... In a couple of months it will be different. One taketh his time and saveth his money.

^ This exactly, I got two quotes today of $8350!! Lets think about that for a second. Both dealers were selling them for MSRP ($6990), tax roughly the same ($500), so that means that aside from shipping which is $200 MAX, there are $400-$500 worth of extra BS fees tacked on. I'm thinking the quote I got now for $8000 wasn't all that bad, even then I could get them to $7800 most likely. I'm in Orlando, FL for reference.

Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up.

It ranges from 8300-8700. You can see it from the other thread. No regrets so far though, it's worth the over price.

Cali dealers are high because they can charge so high of a price. Their crazy azz government won't alow you to register an out of state bike until it has so many miles on it. So, they know that you can't drive over to Nevada or Arizona to buy your FZ-07.

Socialism sucks. High prices, high taxes, little return.

I'm on the hunt today for the fz-07 and the best price I have so far is $7900 OTD but it's a 2 hr drive from where I am. I am trying to get a closer dealer to come down on his $8200 OTD price so if he gives it to me for $8k OTD, I think I'll bite. This is in So. Cal.

I think the key is sticking with very small friendly family owned dealers, just put in a down payment with a nice friendly local small dealer and wait for the bike and they will never treat you bad knowing you live very close to them and love bikes!

The key is patience.  More bikes will come, riding season will fizzle out in most of the country, and prices will drop.  The friendliest dealer in my book is the one who gets me a deal friendliest to my wallet, willingly or not.

I priced several dealers when looking for mine. I got between a 7040 OTD price all the way to 8200 OTD price. A dealer in Indiana was advertising a 5999 price and I was shocked, called them up and they said they dont have any, no idea when they will but would be glad to take a deposit and call me when its in. The two local dealers eventually came to the same price of 7700 OTD, so I went local. Just like with cars "invoice" numbers are made up and change from dealer to dealer. The price on doc fees, setup fee, etc, is where the money comes into play.

I just committed to 8,150 OTD in NJ. Probably room to save a few hundred but I comfortable this is reasonable given the high demand and the fact they have the color I want. In addition I am going away for a week and I don't want them to sell it to someone else. Hopefully I can walk out with a free pair or gloves or something. I rarely give in to the first price. Not sure how picky you can be until there is more supply and less demand. I guess it depends on how bad you want it.

I love Missouri....last week I picked up my red FZ-07 for $6700 OTD. And I had to wait 2 weeks because they thought they had it already but they didn't. Granted we pay sales tax after the fact though when we apply for a title.

This is not entirely correct. You can bring a new bike into CA from another state and it only costs an extra $20 provided that it has an epa emissions sticker showing the bike is compliant with CA emissions. I recently bought a brand new Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 in another state and brought it into CA with zero miles and saved myself about $3200. The bike must be a 50 state bike, then you can bring it in and save a bundle. Ca dealers suck, and many are spreading lies about importing bikes from other states.

Unfortunately I just read that the fz-09 is not a 50 state bike and they make a different model for California so it is not looking too promising for the fz-07. I may have to buy something else because I refuse to give Ca motorcycle dealers any money. I do not believe in rewarding price gougers :(
