Guest 2wheeler
My insurance is with Foremost which is a great company, and cheap rates Well, this is a little different, quoting myself... Here we are almost a year later, and time to pay for another year of insurance. That company of a year ago, Foremost, can now burn in **** A year ago, after getting hit with a $1500 premium from Progressive, I did a bit of shopping and found Foremost for $850. I realize to some of you that sounds high, and frankly it's freaking absurd, especially for a 58 year old man with a squeaky clean driving record. Sad reality is that I live in the Washington DC area, and they consider the FZ-07 a sport bike (I don't). Now a year later, when you would think they would lower it, they have jacked it nearly 10% to $920. Sheet, the bike only cost me $6700. I have a month before my insurance runs out, so there is going to be a got bit of shopping/research between then and now. This sucks, and so does Foremost! thomascrown
That's crazy. I have Foremost too, and pay around 500 a year for full coverage. I only have full coverage for potential theft, otherwise I would just get liability. I wish there was just liability + theft, and not comprehensive collision. Beemer
Of course if they want to keep your business you can play the "Pit one against the other game" and see how far they are willing to go to keep you or take you on as a new customer or there are other choices. If it's just riding you want it would suck but it's not the end, you could sell it and find out how much insurance would cost on a used bikes before you bought it. At least you would still be riding. If that's still too expensive you could always get a cheap dirt bike and ride off road for fun. I thought you could pay people off legally to get things straightened out, what's with the mafia these days?!! Beemer
rick
When I bought mine, Progressive quoted me $700 for the FZ but only $400 for the Street Triple R - yep, $3k more and 60% more HP and less to insure by a lot. Triumph calls the STR a std. I'll bet the new SV 650 Suzuki is also cheaper to insure as it too is listed as a "standard. Goofy.. I'm now just under $600 for Progressive - my Aprilia is less than $200 on the same policy! Go figure.
Guest 2wheeler
I callled Dairyland today, and they told me that they do not treat the FZ-07 and the FZ-09 as sport bikes. They said that they are getting a lot of us coming to them for their cheaper rates. I didn't get a quote yet as I want to see if Foremost charges any early termination fee. Unfortunately they are not open of the weekend other than for claim issues. I'll let everyone know what that quote is.
Guest 2wheeler
FREAKING UNBELIEVABLE!!! I contacted Dairyland for a quote today. It turns out they really don't consider the FZ-07 a sportbike. Foremost Insurance was $850 a year ago, and they just sent me my renewal with a $70 increase, and that is with me having no violations during the year. For comparison, Progressive was $1500/year. I get the fact that I live in the Washington DC metro area, but that's freaking rediculous! So, I priced Dairyland with the same coverage as Foremost, and they quoted me at $407 for the year. Needless to say, I bought it immediately.
Guest ChicagoAJ
Man, I still can't believe people pay so much for bike insurance! FZ-07 cost me $263 a year with full coverage through Progressive, I quoted a GSX-S1000 and it only increased my premium $82 dollars and bumped it to $345 a year. For my FZ, Dairyland wanted something like $650 a year, GEICO was nearly $2000, most other companies were about $1000.

ornery
Adding collision w/ $500 deductible would add $250 to the premium. I don't have any other coverage with Progressive, and only one year riding experience. I got my rate lowered $100 annually by going directly to progressive, instead of an agent. “The real cycle you're working on is a cycle called yourself.” — Robert M.
