I am searching for my first jacket and I wanted to see what kind of jackets people are using? Share ideas and pics if you have them. Thanks.

I'm a new rider, and this is the only jacket I have experience with. It's an Olympia airglide 3 jacket. It was on closeout at Revzilla and I'm very happy with the Hi-Viz color. I've used it for the past 1200 miles and I have no complaints. I'll find pics... and pm

My favorite jacket (I can say that because I have two now) is an Alpinestars Jaws perforated.

I have a Scorpion Hat Trick 2. If you need a 4 season jacket (No extreme cold temps), and don't want to spend much it is pretty awesome. Downside is that the textile material takes a long while to break in and still remains rather stiff and fidgeting with the liners is a pain. Without any of 2 liners it comes with it is awesome for venting air, feels like you are wearing nothing going 20mph or faster. When the liners are in it's ok, it sort of has a loose feel to it which really irritates me especially around the wrist area.

I'd give it a solid 5/7.

Dainese - D1 perforated in white
I chose white for visibility over black and/or red (especially at night) and hopefully i'll be cooler in the sun although it might get dirtier.
beautiful jacket, my favorite piece of gear
feels great and even has space for a two piece chest and/or (c1 or c2) back protectors. it does cost an arm and a leg though

+1 on Dainese. I love my (now discontiued) Avro C2. High quality TUTU leather and armoured up where it counts. I picked up a Manis D1 back armour for it as well and this thing is one solidly built jacket. Expensive but you definitely get what you pay for from Dainese.
IMO one's proverbial ass is whats most important out there, so spend as much $$ as you can on the best protective gear.
Would buy again.

And if you feel like spending more $$, throw a "Helite" airvest in there.  :D
Short of plowing myself into the side of a dumptruck, wearing this gear I feel like I might survive almost any crash.

My next go to will be pants and maybe a jacket from Motoport... amazing looking and very positively reviewed gear but again pretty pricey. The cool thing is it's fully customizable and made specifically for you to your measurements. Worth checking out!

I usually use my Viking Cycle Ironside mesh jacket in the spring and summer. And my mom was nice enough to do some sewing. Put some reflective fabric on the 3 external pads.

And for colder weather I'll use Xelement XS-PR-105 Mens Armored Black Leather Racing Jacket - Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OUS1E9O/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_FZ8axbF8WGX7X

It fits a bit looser so I layer more.

Cortech Latigo leather perforated jacket... picked it up on closeout a few years ago. Its my "all-season" jacket that I use down to 50* or so with the zip-out liner, underarmour and fleece (when it gets cooler). Though I'd like to get some warmer gear for those 40-50 mornings when I take the freeway from my girlfriend's in the morning to work.

Comes down to what style of jacket you want, what kind of weather you ride in, outdoor temps and protection. Leather generally is the best as far as abrasion resistance, but you also want a jacket that has some armor to it (spine, elbow and shoulder). Typical "sport" jackets are more "fitted", whereas touring jackets are looser. Touring jackets also have more pockets, usually synthetic and better suited to all-weather riding (in the cold and/or rain).

How are you guys liking the jaws? Been contemplating one for awhile just haven't figured out if it needs my needs. Can you get a hoodie underneath with the liner?

i like it very much. when i got it, i was afraid that it was too small. After few rides, it got comfy & now Its perfect. Not sure about a hoodie, but i wear another thermal layer with it and a face mask without a problem. I can try for ya

Here's the ones I have currently. I have a few mesh jackets as well , but gave away the rest.

The Dainese one is my newest and it fits great. Spent so much money on gear, but never regretted any of my purchases.

I'm rocking the Scorpion Ravin jacket and pants. Was a little leery of spending almost 1k between the two seeing as I'm a lowly correctional officer living on a state salary but I haven't felt an ounce of regret. Never felt so safe while being dangerous in my life lol. Pic isn't mine, just a good one for reference.

I recently bought this Icon Contra in white ... can't be happier. Great for cooler weather with inserts and nice and airy in summer months.

I've got like 8 jackets because I'm a gear slut.

My favorite summer jacket is the Klim Induction.  Hi-viz.

My 2nd place favorite summer jacket is the Alpinestars TZ-1 Reload in white.

My favorite cold weather jacket is the AGV Dragon.  I removed all the logos, so it's just black leather with hi-vis panels.  Looks pretty badass, has thick leather with armor and good insulation.

My "mild weather" favorite jacket is the Roland Sands City.

I just picked up the Klim Induction Jacket as well. By far the most protective mesh I have ever worn. Very nice jacket with a lifetime warranty. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-induction-jacket

Yeah, that one is tough to beat.  It's worth twice the cost, in my opinion.

+1 This is the nicest mesh jacket I've owned.  Very comfortable excellent air flow. Highly recommended despite the price. If the rest of Klim's gear is this nice I'm saving my pennys for gear upgrades...

That Klim is a nice jacket but so is this for almost half the price and it's a solid jacket. If you're focus is more on armor then this has CE approved, ventilated armor at the elbows and the shoulders. Pad for the back but can be replaced with CE back armor.

That jacket looks great @jeffkisthename, how do you like it? Any comparison vs the Jaws? I've been looking to upgrade to leather and was considering the Jaws but that deal on STG looks pretty good.
