New bike!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

After stalking this forum for month I finally pulled the trigger and got a white fz-07!

I already installed frame sliders and adjusted the play in the throttle cable.

I didn't measure the chain slack yet, but after coming home from my first ride I realized that the chain is touching the top of the swing arm. That doesn't look good to me.

Is it possible to adjust the chain without a centerstand? My other bike (1982 CB750) has one so I never tried it on just the side stand?

I would like to eat your opinions.

Yes, it's normal for the chain to touch the top of the swingarm.
In fact, that's why that black plastic-looking thing is there that the chain rides on.
There has to be some slack.Measure it before you do anything. You may be surprised.
You can do a chain adjustment (whenever it is truly needed) with the wheel on the ground, but it's easier to get right the first time on a swingarm stand.

I did my chain adjustment on the side stand. I did have a friend who knew what he was doing help me though. It was at 200 miles and I have not had to tighten it again in almost 3,000 miles.

Welcome to the forum! I am still figuring out the chain adjustment. Mostly just getting the cleaning tools and making sure I have time to do it.
