Thrasherg
It is 100% true, higher octane fuel allows you to run higher compression ratios and extract more power, but if you don't change the engine to get the higher compression ratio, the more expensive fuel wont do anything for you. You should run the fuel Yamaha states for this bike, anything with a higher octane rating is wasting money!! On the positive side, some higher octane fuels do have additives to help clean your engine from carbon deposits, etc and that is always a plus, but you only need to run a tank full of this expensive fuel every 10 fill ups (or even more, maybe every 20th fill up) just to keep everything nice and clean, don't run the expensive gas for every fill up.
