aeisan
Coming from the CBR, that too came with a cable. I did use a gun lock to secure the helmet to the cable. But these days, I don't feel comfortable keeping my gear on my bike. Just heard too many stories of cables getting cut and gear getting stolen. LIKE WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO STEAL SOMEONE'S USED GEAR?! Especially helmets…. SMH. Because for as little as 30 seconds of their time, they can go sell a $200-400 helmet or jacket to a pawn shop and be $50 richer than they were that morning. Trust me... Criminals only see the profit, no matter how little. They are not stealing things for their own personal use (typically). Life is good on 2 wheels! Only reinforces why not to leave gear on out with the bike. Instagram: @meekmade | You don't need to flat foot a bike to ride it.

bmichalec
It seems that Yamaha has a standard helmet lock for their domestic bikes. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33459059/lock.jpg If you google the part numbers in the picture they show up being used on other Yamaha bikes too. (You will need 61, 62 and 63) I'm not sure if you can calibrate your key to use the lock. I can only find #62 through google. Any suggestions? Global Moderator Guru Posted October 2, 2014 Global Moderator Share Posted October 2, 2014 Or you could just make a bracket and use a bolt that fits, it seems pretty straight forward.
Premium Member No Hater Posted May 8, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted May 8, 2015 If im in a percieved safe place i actually use that stupid wire that is included. Although, I certainly dont loop it through the screwdriver as recommended by the manaul. I run it through the D ring on the helmet then hook each end of the wire around of the rear seat hooks and latch the seat down. Works better than nothing. bmichalec
http://www.satoracing.com/helmetlock_hondaCB1000R.htm Here is one that I am using. It bolts right on the the rear peg mount and I haven't had any issues. Works so much better than the cable under the seat.
Premium Member yamahappy74 Posted May 20, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted May 20, 2015 I don't trust anyone, ever, when it comes to my bike or accessories. I've met too many people who would gladly spit in a helmet or just kick it or something for giggles. So I guess what I'm saying is the helmet lock thing really isn't a big deal to me. I'm bringing it with me wherever I go anyway.
Premium Member grahamfz07 Posted May 21, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted May 21, 2015 I use a small combination cable lock, used for snowboarding. Typically hang the helmet off the passenger peg on the left side and lock it through the helmet and metal peg bracket

cassecou
I put my helmet inside my 40L Shad case. I even put my jacket in along with my helmet, or put my helmet and my daughter's helmet in it when we are together. Nobody knows helmets are in the case. If they can't see it, they don't know its there 8-)
xdr
This is how I secure my helmet... There are two rubber "pads" on the bottom of the rear seat, I place the strap on the helmet between them and the frame then out the other side. When the seat is locked down it provides a tight fit. Only downside is since this increases the pressure on the locking mechanism, you have to press down on the seat to be able to turn the key to unlock. Best of all, this is free and easy. You may say they could cut the strap, but like any other locking system, if the strap is cut the helmet is useless.
RobMoore
A strapless helmet isn't useless to the kind of person who rides with it sitting on top of their head.
