FZWes
Last night I got whacked right at Las Vegas Boulevard. The Harlot took a nasty glancing blow to the r/side from wheel. I'd post a few photos but it can be difficult. I loved riding her, man it was great up until now. If the insurance company totals her out, I have the options of taking the check pay off the bank note and get back on my HOG and embrace the memories or cop the salvage and rebuild. Gimme some feed back fellow riders, is it worth it to repair a five yo FZ with 12K on the clock or say "F" it and ride my bagger. Peace.
glacierblue
I don't even understand what happened? did you hit something or something hit you? I love my bike so I'd likely wanna fix it up but that's up to you.
Triple Jim
If you like your Harley better, go for it. If it were me, I'd sell the Harley, pocket the money, and use the insurance to fix the FZ.

Premium Member cornerslider Posted November 23, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted November 23, 2021 It doesn't look "totaled" by the pics? If the frame & wheels are straight, I'd fix it. Doesn't look too difficult to repair. Maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture though? Good luck- 1 ""W.O.T. until you see god, then brake"
Zephyr
Looks iffy to me. Hard enough blow on the front right wheel to break the calipers off, then enough energy to send the bike onto the left side breaking the foot peg. If the front forks are gone, but the frame and the rest are ok, then I would contemplate repairing. Sounds like you are in a decent situation where you have the hog to ride while you consider your options. Main thing is that is appears you took no damage to yourself. Best of luck. stickshift
Looks like a relative easy fix to me, but it's hard to assess it properly by looking at pics. It might be worth checking the forks, front wheel and disc for any damage.
FZWes
Riders, there is one hitch that appeared when we took her to the shop, the tech noticed a deep caved in spot on my header. The estimated cost of repairs prior to this unfortunate revelation was $1700. now add another $700. thats $2400. likelihood of additional damage to be repaired is imminent figure in a approximate 10 hrs labor plus tax it could be a write off. We shall see. Everyone enjoy your Thanksgiving!
Triple Jim
There's usually a buy-back option when a vehicle is totaled. When my daughter had some clown hit her in a parking lot, the insurance company totaled the car, she took the insurance money and bought it back, and pocketed $1,200. It was all above-board, with the agent sort of laughing about one of his clients that had a pickup truck that had been totaled three times. FZWes
Jim, I have some friends that shared that avenue with me. Having no knowledge on how that process works it looks like I'll have plenty of questions. How is your daughters bike running for her? Ill keep her and all our fellow riders in my prayers. 00RAH
1. fold the brake line and crimp it with a zip tie. 2. cut it off and ride with 1 caliper 3.profit Edited November 29, 2021 by 00RAH

LTR Thank you for your concern, Wes! I apologize for leaving out the fact that she was in a Ford Escort and there were no injuries. The collision put a minor dent in the left rear fender of the car. Your insurance agent will be able to explain how the process works in your state. At the time, the car was covered under my insurance policy. I didn't know anything about it either, but my agent clearly presented my choices and happily helped me.
