Julian
I decided to install back the OEM rear fender because too much splash from wet road. I put everything back together but I can't get the plastics to wrap around the tail light tightly, they leave a gap on the sides and under. I can see where they are supposed to latch under the tail light but as much as I tried I couldn't get them to stay in place?
Triple Jim
I haven't been through this, but often heat can help this sort of thing. Are the black parts in the photo soft like rubber? Maybe drop them in boiling water for a minute or so and try again.

Hard plastic and you don't need to remove them completely to mess with the fender, only loosen.
Triple Jim
Is there some way they might not be seated properly? Maybe there's a groove that something needs to drop into.
wollerms
I would take it apart and start over, almost looks like those should be latched first before fender stuff goes on. Here's a link to 2019 parts. Doesn't help that there's like 20 pieces. https://www.ronayers.com/oemparts/a/yam/5c2d0f2e87a86610b4ca2871/fender
