D3o back protector Installation. Which way is in and out?

Recommended Posts

I have the icon D30 back protector Insert. The two sides have widely different geometry. One side is flat the other has a tread pattern like a shoe. I’m not sure which side goes out ( pointing away from the back) and in (in contact with the rider’s back). Maybe it doesn’t matter. Two videos on YouTube the person just guessed on which way to insert. I’m just wondering if one side would provide better impact protection.

Should be smooth/ rounded side outward, flat grooved side against your back.

From the manufacturer:

For the record and since we get this question asked a lot, the D3O back protector orientation is always with the deeply-ridged side against your back (i.e. facing your back). This applies to all D3O back-armor pads and not just to the Viper Pro.
