One side is flat the other has a tread pattern like a shoe. I’m not sure which side goes out ( pointing away from the back) and in (in contact with the rider’s back). Maybe it doesn’t matter. Two videos on YouTube the person just guessed on which way to insert. I’m just wondering if one side would provide better impact protection. scat2me Posted September 9, 2021 Share Posted September 9, 2021 From the manufacturer: For the record and since we get this question asked a lot, the D3O back protector orientation is always with the deeply-ridged side against your back (i.e. facing your back).
