Qays 2020 MT07 Abu Dhabi Edition

Hey guys,

I want to share with you my journey of riding a motorcycle here in the UAE. I started riding motorcycles in college when I was living in Tempe, Arizona and took the Team Arizona course. It was a lot of fun so when I moved back home I wanted to ride again. I went to the dealership wanting to get either a 2020 MT07 or a 2020 Bolt but found that the MT07 is the better choice.

Here you can see the color I chose which is the Ice Fluo.

Here you can see the bike ready for pickup

Here was the pickup experience, I want to thank Al Yusuf Motors the dealership for Yamaha here in Abu Dhabi and my Salesman Mr. El Shafie for an amazing experience I enjoyed it very much.

The next day I ride to work, was a good ride. Parked between the stalls as I haven't discovered the motorcycle parking yet.

Here I am back at the dealership after hearing a humming noise on the highway. The tech went out to ride it and told me the noise is normal. I got piece of mind after that and continued on my way.

Later I take it to one of my coffee spots. Ice coffee is really good after a ride! Haha

Later I head home and take some photos of the Halogen lights that came on the bike. To my surprise they are very bright and do a wonderful job.IMG_6190.thumb.jpeg.bb514f8b70f00a630a8b3d4cfb04d77d.jpegIMG_6191.thumb.jpeg.b87384b6934dbfa9ec0e4c5acb5456b7.jpeg

I go out for a Photoshoot with my iPhone 11 Pro I wanted to capture everything about the bike.

From the start of ownership I knew there was no real storage capacity on this fun bike so I went for a Nelson Rigg Commuter Lite bag and was happy I could carry some stuff with me on the bike .

I decided to remove the riding and ethanol stickers on the fuel tank as they are no longer needed and the bike will look better without it.

Cleaned and lubed the chain 800km after my first service, just to prolong the chain life. It does feel smooth with a clean chain too.

Ordered CRG Arrow Mirrors and RhinoMoto Gen 2 bar ends. I put the bar ends on with loctide and the CRG Mirrors were mounted inverted until my CRG RC2 Shorty Levers come in. Also plugged the mirror holes with some black screws I found for the MT-07 on amazon.

Went on R&G's website and ordered some crash protection as well as a tail tidy.

Went out later to meet up with a friend at Starbucks, I really love the look of the CRG mirrors and the fact they don't vibrate at all. The Tail tidy looks great too but had to relocate and drill new holes on my plate which I needed to change.

Met a guy from Kerala and he showed me a cool fishing spot just off from the main city. Was a great ride indeed.

Installed the Cyclops 10.0 Headlight Bulb and R&G Aero Turn Signals. Not that the stock bulb wasn't bright enough, it's just the color of the LED is nicer in my opinion. Also the turn signals aren't upstaging the bike.

Next my CRG Shorty Levers came in the mail so I installed those and reversed my mirrors back to the upwards position. I can see much better out of them that way and the shorty levers allow for more precise inputs.

I liked the way the bike was coming along so I went ahead and installed a Givi Windscreen. Wind is blocked from my hips and stomach for a more relaxing ride at highway speeds which is the main reason I went with the 690CC engine. Everybody knows in the US we don't ride anything less than 300CC's for passing power on the highway. And the MT07 is very good on the highway, as well as confidence inspiring.

IMG_7200.thumb.jpeg.684684a7e3634c9f1119876a302b88b8.jpeg

Next I ordered the Akra Ti with Carbon Tip, the stock exhaust was nice but it didn't have much rumble to it.

Next I took it out for some rides, really want to enjoy the MT-07 for what it is. A great all-rounder that can be enjoyed by beginners and pros. I like the height of the handlebars allows me to enjoy the scenery much better.

Found a spot to store it should I travel or it's too hot to ride maybe July-September. I have my Mustang for hot days.

Installed the Akra Ti Carbon with the DNA Stage 2 filter and the Power Commander V. This is a safe solution to keep the air/fuel mixture good. The ultimate solution will be a 2WDW flash, which I plan on mailing my ECU in but with it being an international thing I can't go a day without riding :) Haha

Also the R&G frame sliders are in, and another photoshoot with the iPhone 11 Pro as the build is in its completion phase.

Found a place to park when commuting to work, it has a shade and I share the spot with 2 other bikes A Harley with ape bars, a 150cc bike, and a scooter. There is an awareness of motorcycles on the roads but one must always be careful. I do enjoy being part of the 2 wheel community its a cool club to be in.

Did the TST Smoked Integrated Tail Light, already had the relay installed from my previous setup so it was plug and play. It makes the rear of the bike really clean and tidy, and the lights function excellent.

Also here is how we customized the R&G Tail Tidy, looks like it came that way.

As far as Mods go I think I have completed my build and am very happy with my customizations. Let me know what you guys think. The rest of my time I will invest in safety riding gear and experience. I hope to have many safe miles on this bike and great stories to tell.

Here is a picture of a hand wash performed by myself

I think the wheels look so great when they are clean the color is amazing in person.

Welcome to the club :)

Definitely spend some of that money towards quality riding gear.  It'll only take a minor accident for it to show it' worth.  👍

Nice group of mods you've done. I've done many of the same mods myself. I have the older RhinoMoto bar ends with my CRG Arrows. How are the gen 2 RhinoMoto bar ends different from the 1st gen?

Thank you bro 🙏 Yeah some of the new stuff that's coming out is really cool. Apparently the Gen 2 ones are shorter in length but that's about it.

Got the Carpimoto Front and Rear stand combo. What's nice about these is that they are one piece so there are no bolts that will get loose over time. They are Italian made and feel really high quality. I haven't tried the front stand yet as I think I'll only use it to store the bike, the rear is handy for keeping the chain clean and washing the bike.

You could always buy a second ECU (either new or used) and have that flashed. That way your bike wouldn’t be out of commission while the ECU is in transit. You could probably even have the new ECU shipped directly to 2WDW to save on time and shipping fees.

Plus you could sell your original stock ECU to recoup part of the cost or keep it as a backup in case you want to have 2WDW re-flash the new one at some point to accommodate additional mods or to fine tune for your climate / riding style.

That's a good idea, I think I will ship the original one during the summer, I can take a few weeks off from riding as the weather will be hot when the sun is out. I'm wondering how much more different will it feel compared to the Website downloaded map. Also would add a quick shifter as I saw an actual part for it on 2wdw's website and in the ecu description it says its already in the ecu.
