mt7fan
I use blipping by almost every downshift. Have Mt07 from 2016 without modifications. When I have good time to shift I use also the method 3 from above. But for instance going fast downhill to a curve blipping is a faster way to match the rev, at least for me. Fast_Frankenstein
You may not like the answer - however the 170/60X17 is aimed at a 4.5" rim; you're attempting to put it on a rim a full inch wider. Tire profile is completely determined by rim width - you've flattened the tire profile by putting it on the wrong rim - toss it and put a matching 180/55 Q3+. Between Yamaha and tire manufacturers there are $$$millions of dollars engineering to get this stuff right - trust them.
klx678
Depending on the tire company the 170 may or may not be a recommended fit. The Bridgestone Battlax Adventurecross AX41S has both the 180 and 170 as sizes with a recommended 5.5" rim width. I recommend a rider look at manufacturer recommendations when it comes to fitting bigger or smaller tires on a given rim.
