Global Moderator Pursuvant Posted February 18, 2021 Global Moderator Share Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) Post your Ohlins setup and settings results in here. If you run a mixed Ohlins plus other mfgs, you can drop em here too, but try to make your hardware clear & easy to find... Global Moderator Pursuvant Posted February 18, 2021 Author Global Moderator Share Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) === 2019 XSR700 === =====Setup ======= STX46 (YA419) Ohlins PN 01092-36/105 spring rate 105 N/m NIX-22 Ohlins 8.5N/mm springs Ohlins Product ID: FKS 204 Spring Series: 08429-xx Springs PN 08429-85 Ohlins Suspension Fluid R&T 01309-01 ================== 150 lbs rider w/o gear ================== @@@@@@@@@@@ STX-46 preload: 19mm (my OS) (SAG w/rider & gear = 35mm) rebound: 11 clicks 0 "clicks" is fully closed Preload measure is shock body threads exposed (measured from locking ring). NIX-22 preload: (SAG w/rider & gear = 35mm) comp (left leg): 6 clicks rebound (right leg): 5 clicks 0 "clicks" is fully closed *Preload is determined by SAG w/rider/gear. (SAG w/rider & gear = 35mm) Results: Firm, aggressive street settings. This is my Street Sport settings. The suspension swallows significant events and returns to planted confidence with no bounce. There is no front end dive when braking, the valving solved it. @@@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@@@ STX-46 preload: 19mm (my OS) minus 3 turns rebound: 11 clicks *OS are my original settings Results: Softer relaxed setup for comfort cruising/touring. Just back off 3 complete turns of preload from my OS. You don't need to change NIX-22, it has broad capability. Lowering the STX preload has a significant effect on comfort, I use it for relaxed cruising & exploring rough county roads. Bike remains as always, planted and confident. @@@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@@@ STX-46 preload: 19mm (my OS) plus 2 turns rebound: 11 clicks *OS are my original settings Results: For 2 up, partner is 105 lbs on a Corbin pillion. Just add 2 complete turns of preload from my OS. You don't need to change NIX-22, it has broad capability. Needed to balance up suspension when riding with the wife, I use it for in town and exploring rough county roads. Bike remains as always, planted and confident. @@@@@@@@@@@ Edited May 3, 2021 by Pursuvant added 2 up settings
Global Moderator Pursuvant Posted March 29, 2023 Author Global Moderator Share Posted March 29, 2023 Ohlins recommendations (from the install settings Ohlins calculated for your suspension when you ordered from Ohlins) are "xx clicks from fully open". I track my "click" settings from "fully closed" - all my settings in this post are from fully closed. That's could be a big difference
