It followed me home from the racetrack last weekend... It's a 1999 R6. I'll be in the 90's Cup class now instead of Lightweight. An antique racer for a race fossil I guess. It came with a new set of bodywork that I dropped off at the painter. And the set that's on there was kinda a mess so I started in on it, When it's done I'll paint this set and keep it for a rain or spare set. The chain pic in the Master Link thread is from this bad boy. The brakes were shot too so I'll remedy that as well as go through the suspension and spring for my substantial self while I'm messing around. More to come. I would love to hear your thoughts on the RS660........

Nice bike, nice electronics package, nice brakes, decent suspension, light weight. Fastish but still needs work and upgrading for the track. Better suspension, flash and a pipe give it a bit more legs but since the rules limit motor work on it it's no run away. Roughly the same stock power as mildly tuned FZ's and strong motored SV's @ Will it devastate MA Twins Cup? No, it's not allowed enough motor work to give any advantage. In club racing we've run against them in super sport form and get killed, in super bike tho it's a different story with a decent level of parity with Yamaha and Suzuki at this point. It's a better starting point but the end result is the same, it's another runner which is what the rules are there to create. Meh. On the project front I keep finding unpleasant things such as this glob of JB Weld on the transmission case. There appears to have been damage to the cases from a chain fiasco at some point in the past, strange... Speaking of chain, after removing the chain pictured above and examining it more closely I found that 30 rollers are missing and half of the remaining barrels are cracked and ready to fall off. Not hard to see how this bike got so beat up. I can't believe this won it's class at Daytona this spring. Better lucky than good I guess.

You're a better man than me for taking on this rolling basket case of a bike. I hope you got a really good deal on it considering the shape it's in and the apparent lack of maintenance and care this bike seems to have had. DewMan Just shut up and ride. mossrider
Command central, Forgot to mention my crew this weekend is Andy Palmer. Dude seems to know a thing or two about racing. And running the show is Brett's lovely wife Patty. If we come up short now I suck.
mossrider
After a quick beer and a 15 minute cam swap to version XX bump sticks w/o decompression nonsense we're ready for battle. Feel kinda sorry for the other poor saps. A.P. in his natural environment. I'm only playing dumb to get him to do this stuff
mossrider
Well P1 was cut short by a red flag incident but we got a good idea of what's what in the 3 laps we got. Q1 was good, we put it on the outside of row 3 in 9th. We have another swing at the pinatas tomorrow so we'll see if we can improve. Greetings from Road America!

Good luck for the races.

mossrider
P11 in Q2 so we dropped to the 4th row for the race. When the start lights went out Brett went to work and got it done. Finished in 7th even after blowing Canada corner and dropping 4.5 seconds that he clawed back to make a beautiful last lap pass to rectify! My best finish to date, thank you team!

Parts, tools, spares, equipment, expertise, anything anyone needs is freely shared so we can whip it out and see whose biggest come race day. Old-young, boy-girl, doesn't matter. I've been lucky enough to do a few rounds per year of Moto America twins since the class started a few years ago. Some of these guys do them all, some do some, some one and done but everyone walks away happier and glad they did it. I must give A.P. credit here. I learned more about being a crew chief from him this weekend than I ever thought possible. Thank you Andy. Watch us at Brainerd International Raceway end of July. Maybe Barber round too. Never discount the value of setting yourself afire from time to time!

Yeah the amount of passion at Motoamerica was unreal. I was out supporting some local club racers Jody (#717) and Danilo (#94), neither had a great weekend but the festivities were fun. Now I know what FZs to look out for, all my local racers are SV people
