Brake fluid on brake pads. Is that bad?

So I tried bleeding my front brakes today, but the bleeder hose popped off and drenched the caliper in brake fluid😱. Some of it got on the pads. Would it be fine if I just clean it? And with what?

Any solvent. I use mineral spirits as the universal solvent in my shop. Will not attack paint or any type of seals.

If you weren't able to clean them immediately it may be tough to get them clean now. Once that stuff soaks in it's kinda tough to drae out, but soak and scrub and you should be alright. If they feel goofy afterwards then you can replace them.

Like Shiny said I've used the spirits or brake cleaner in the past and I also put it on a rag and spin the caliper in it on occasion. You'll be fine.

Thanks for your quick reply. As soon I saw your comment I went and cleaned it. Hopefully it will be okay. As for the brake bleeding, I'm going to get a kit. Turns out the smallest pipe I could get at the hardware store was too big. Lesson learnt.

Some feedback. Everything seems fine after cleaning the pads and doing a successful bleed👌.
