Tak'in care of bizz-ness

Had to wait till I turned about 5K miles on the new bike before I started modding - just because sometimes a bike needs warranty work that shows up right away. This bike I have is clean, so it's time to start taking care of business.

There are things on this bike that simple put, need sorted out. Those things come first, before the aesthetics. So here's the first mod I'm rolling out. Ohlins NIX-22 up front and the STX-46 shock.

Ya, it's the 100% solution. We all know what I'm going to say. It's not the same bike anymore, a complete transformation, total results - and that's just testing with the initial sag & settings. More foundational than a pipe and tail tidy? Unpossible

I have the same, love it on road and track.

Nice mod.

Edit: I have the forks raised 5mm in the yokes, makes initial tip in much nicer.

Those sickly wooden brakes.

Right after I roll out my blowup Hooters girl autopilot that deploys every time I turn the key off and parks my bike for me

Great "tip" thank you, I'm going to work my way thru the Ohlins settings, experimenting until I get two basic usage packages (1) hooligan aggressive riding and (2) cushy comfort just firm enough to be safe. That #2 is for when my disabilities push the pain over the edge. Then I'll go 5 mm on those forks, I have always thought they felt "tall".

The brake upgrade I'm working on is really because at times, when that cancer puts the hurt on me, I strain to create enough power with my one finger braking. That's why I need this site and folks like you and DewMan to desk check my thinking. I'll  run my brake layout by you guys before I go for it, open for any observations and suggestions. Sometimes I find the chemo has wiped bits of my memory and there can be things I just am not seeing anymore that others can spot.

Yes sir you were right on in every way, thank you for working this with me. I'm going to follow all your advice on how to train your brain for all this new adjustability.

Thx again

And I don't ride when the only issue is I think it's too hot.  You're making feel like a slacker. 😆

The force required to engage the front brake is primarily tied to the length of the brake lever. The longer it is the less force required, but more travel length required, to engage the brakes as well.  You give up reaction speed for ease of pull.
So I definitely wouldn't suggest shorty levers.

The factory brake lever is not a bad one and if I hadn't wanted shorty levers I'd have left it on.

There are some expensive solutions out there that may help you but I've not done any research.

Good luck to you. ✌️

I'm glad to hear good things about the Ohlins NIX 22 kit. I have no idea what NIX stands for, reckon it doesn't matter, but I ordered a kit earlier. I'm also curious what you've been thinking of changing on the brakes.

Thanks ShinyRibs, because you helped me on those brakes in another thread, you will be the first to know. Soon
