It's here!  CarbonSmith and MWR Air Filters have teamed up to create an incredible Racing Intake Solution (RIS) for your Yamaha FZ-07/MT-07.

The CarbonSmith / MWR RIS was born out of competition.  Not happy with the current offerings on the market, CarbonSmith set out to develop and produce high flow velocity stacks for the Yamaha MT07/FZ07 to replace the OEM rubber stacks.

When paired with the 63 mm Angled POD filter by MWR, this combination will increase peak HP and TQ gains compared to OEM, especially above 8500 RPM.

We saw a 4 hp gain over the competition without changing the existing tune (using the standard MWR Performance filter material).

But we weren't going to stop there.  After testing was completed and results brought to MWR, they decided even MORE gains can be had and made us the 63mm Angled POD filter in their RACE material!

MWR's RACE material is the air filter material used in all their WSBK filters - proven in Jonathan Rea's Factory Kawasaki Superbike that won the World Superbike Championship the last 5 years in a row!

The CarbonSmith / MWR Racing Intake Solution is meant for competition on closed courses, and you will notice increased power and torque in the upper rpm range.  However, we know some of you will want to use this system on your street bikes, so we are offering it with a variety of options:

Short Stack - designed for shorty GP exhaust systems (most systems for the FZ-07/MT-07 are this type)

Long Stack - designed for longer piped exhaust systems

Performance Filter Material - high flow material good for 8-12 months before cleaning and re-oiling

RACE Filter Material - Ultra high flow material, meant to be cleaned and re-oiled after every race weekend

Street users should choose the Performance Filter Material for longer intervals between cleaning and re-oiling, and select stack length based on exhaust type (most likely the short stack).

Race users for competition should choose the RACE Filter Material, and select stack length based on exhaust type.

Engine tuning is essential for all combinations of the CarbonSmith / MWR Racing Intake Solution.

Note:  Does not come with a Crank Case Vent Catch Can.  There are so many ways do do this, from a simple vent tube going to a filter, or a vent tube going to a catch can of different shapes, we wanted to leave it up to the customer to find the best solution for their application.

Hose Clamps not included.

Prices are as follows:

Short Stack/RACE Filter $222.95

Short Stack/Performance Filter $222.95

Long Stack/RACE Filter $247.95

Long Stack/Performance Filter $247.95

RACE Material Replacement Set $114.95

Performance Filter Replacement Set $114.95

These prices were set with this Forum in mind, so people who buy the complete Racing Intake Solution from us get a built-in discount.

Nice!
Any chance of dyno charts? I’d love to see how it does for midrange gains comparing this to stock.
Definitely a good price point too.

Ditto, and what would be really great is to see a current dyno comparison of stock, conventional flash and RapidBike with the same FZ/MT-07 using your new intake.

I can't help but notice that the intakes themselves look 3D printed. If it is, I'm curious if its a plastic filament (if so, then what plastic?) or if its sintered metal?

I’ll ask Ryan if he’d like a unbiased dyno comparison.  Intake length is too related to harmonics to just claim +4 Hp except on a particular cam timing.   Same reason we had to change the intakes on the Sv this season.

Looks killer though.  Ryan does awesome work.

Ryan has a markforge I believe they use a material called Onyx which is nylon with CF.

Super cool. Happy to see 3D printing making its way into aftermarket performance parts.

Unfortunately all the testing was done with CarbonSmith, so I don't have the charts.

I had a dyno chart at one point, and we gained like 4 hp after 8500 rpm over the Hord box, on a mildly tuned motor with cams.  That was with the MWR Performance air filter material.  When I gave feedback to MWR, they made the filter in their RACE filter material, which flows a ton more.  We didn't go back and test that same bike with the RACE material, as the new filters were attained later in the development process.

Now the RACE filters are a regular part of the inventory, but, for users that want to use this system on the street, we still offer the Performance air filter material.  Both are fire retardant.

That would be great, but I doubt you will find 1 person with all the parameters you've requested.

It is 3D printed on a MarkForge 3D printer, but I'm not sure of the material he used.  I'd have to find out.

Yes, but again, I'm not sure what material he used, as his machine can use different materials if I'm not mistaken.

This has really caught my interest. Man I'm really interested, and torn at the same time. Anyone need a new stock air-filter? Cause something is happening on my bike in regards to the air-intake.

Bump.

Any updates or anybody install this yet? I've very interested in it. Had been looking at the hord box but this seems a no brainer price wise.

I'd imagine at this point the closest matching tune to get for it would be the Hordpower tune. Unless someone is working on something in the background.

1 other thing. How would these filters hold up against rain/wetness as compared to the hord box? From what I hear there werent any issues. Just want to confirm it's the same reliability with the exposed MWR filter material.

Thanks for the feedback on this! Wont be long before I just pull the trigger on it.

Sorry to reask this - is there a discount we need to apply or is the discounted price what's listed on the link:

I've priced it accordingly with Forum Members in mind already, as the shop doesn't make much money on these.  It was more of pet project for my personal race bike build, but when interest arose we decided to sell them to the public.

As far as rain protection goes, I'd imagine it would be similar to any other open element type of solution.

:)

I too wish someone would buy and review this, having read a lot of Paul's post I want to get this but man does the Hordebox call my name. I feel like if anyone got this I would follow suite lol. Neither seem ideal in rain, and I live in Louisiana but I've also never seen anyone hydra lock their bike either.

Tired of this even being brought up. Water droplets are too big to pass thru filter media period

Right on @mossrider!!!! I used to have a Yamaha Banshee (ATV), with a 2-stroke parallel twin, and  K&N pod filters on each carb. I not only rode it in the pouring rain, but also extreme amounts of mud!!!! Never once had any carb, or motor problems. I have the Hordpower intake on my FZ-07. I've also ridden that in the pouring rain (with zero issues). I don't even think about water anymore 😎👍-

Hey guys sorry I have not logged in to this forum in a while, but it seems that I'm late to the party!  Couple of things:

1. The bike that was tested in the dyno chart was equipped with a flash tune for the HPR and we simply swapped the HPR for our short stack with the standard MWR pod and re-ran on the dyno. With more tuning and the race MWR Pod I'm sure you could make the curve even better esp in the 6-7k range where it drops, but we made +4 HP in the over rev area just by swapping parts and not changing the tune.  It was a first generation FZ motor build that was not done by AP or Sam, it was built in Colorado with pistons, cams, and a decked head and block.  I have been waiting for the MotoAmerica Season to finish so that I can get more thorough testing done on these.

2. They are printed on a FDM Markforged Printer using Onyx, which is a Carbon Fiber + Nylon Mix.  It is very durable against fuels, even MR-12, and will not deflect under 150 C, unlike some of the other SLA parts on the market.  I don't use any continuous fiber reinforcement in this part for a few reasons, but mainly to keep the cost down.  I have attached specific data sheets for those that are curious.

Just in case you don't know.  The catch can is only needed per MotoAmerica rules and maybe some other sanctioning bodies.  The regular folk can just clamp an "Amazon or Ebay" filter onto the end of the vent hose.  Or check out K&N's website.

Thanks, i get lost in some of the things going on in here. I'm a UK rider just got my mt recently and I'm doing my best to kit it out as well as i can. Got the most part done to make it my own, now I'm just trying to figure our whether the MWR set up is for me or to just go all out on this intake system. I'm not all that knowledgeable and I may be looking at this too simply but with this setup I'd see more power for not much more so it just makes sense? I have SC Project S1 exhaust and once i have a intake system id be sending my ECU off to be flashed. Sorry if i sound clueless its because i am lol😅

The carbonsmith/MWR racing intake appears to be intended for race bikes that spend most of their time in the upper rev range.

I think I would need to see a dyno chart before putting it on a road bike that spends most of its time in the midrange revs.

It is simply a plastic bottle and a nipple for you to install and locate on the bike to suit your needs.

I came here to ask this exact question. I'm a newb and finally got mine in, I know I prob shouldn't have bought this being a complete newb but whatever.

I was looking for instructions and an answer to the question above. Can we get that bottle  from you?
