Clear plastics in my experience are usually brittle and adversely affected by heat and sun. Just look at your plastic headlight lens after only a few years of exposure to the elements and heat of the bulb itself . This would so much more heat than your headlight experiences. Unless this is made from some really high quality plastics I can't see it lasting very long.  But I'd love you to give it a try and let us know how well it works long term. 1 DewMan  Just shut up and ride. According to WIki "PMMA is an economical alternative to polycarbonate (PC) when tensile strength, flexural strength, transparency, polishability, and UV tolerance are more important than impact strength, chemical resistance, and heat resistance" This says it has less impact strength, chemical resistance and heat resistance than polycarbonate.
