In my case I added a braided line and left the stock pads. I really only use the rear when I run off a corner and I'm trying to save my bacon or to settle the rear entering certain corners. Some guys never touch the rear brake, some use it a bunch. The rear brake has a tendency to squat or settle the bike rather than rock the bike into it's nose which can be helpful. The rear brake is hard enough to modulate with your foot, leaned over, in traffic, at speed w/o being upgraded to Saturn V spec so I prefer the stockish rear configuration. Remember this is from a track only perspective. On track most folks primarily upgrade the front. Only some do the rear and not usually to the same degree as the front. There simply isn't enough stopping power available in the back brake to warrant a huge investment. The front offers way more power and is easier to modulate. And keep in mind intended use. A street rider vs factory pro have different needs and their equipment may not be suitable for the others riding needs. Race pads are designed for repeated hard stopping from high speed, using race tires, to resist fade but need heat you can't keep in the pads on the street, can be hard on discs and too easily overpower available traction on public roadways. Street pads are designed to last a long time, work well with DOT tires in the cold and varying weather, offer controllable braking at reasonable speeds while not damaging the rotors. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I asked these questions ONLY because I had an opportunity to get some new aftermarket swag at a fraction of the cost new. But, this thread has been very informative from a lot of different perspectives and applications. This is why I turn here to learn and you all usually deliver so props to the community! So I did end up getting the 3 EBC Vee discs for a ridiculously low price and will probably give them a go but am going to sleep on it for a while because I am in no rush. I can turn around and sell on fleabay and make a profit if I so desire but knowing me they will end up on the bike. Please nobody offer me any kind of “good deal” on anymore bike parts . Solo saddle, flat track seat/tail, turn signals. I am fighting the urge for a header mostly because all are so loud and what I really would like is to build a double megaphone flat track style set. My only concern - besides too loud - is if it cannot be compensated for by the engine management electronics. I really wouldn't be doing it for performance, mostly for appearances and a shade better tone. I've considered getting one of the cheap headers on Amazon, setting it up as a 2-1-2 with another collector put on backward. Problem is getting some decent megaphone mufflers, like the old MCM mufflers. Prefer chambered versus glass pack straight thru mufflers. Maybe, maybe... Just not too jazzed on doing anything to actually hurt performance. I'm totally happy with the performance. Maybe next year or so I may look at doing suspension... and maybe not. I'm not riding that hard. My comment wasn't meant to be any insult to anyone so I'm hoping no one is really bothered with it. Just one of those where it is "do I really need this"? If not, then it is "can I afford this for looks only"? I figured yes to the solo seat and also the flat track saddle, which will be interchangeable in a minute. The other thing is to try to get rid of the XSR lollipop tail light, looking at one of the low buck Lucas brow style with LED lighting, $25. As I said in another thread I got the less than OEM prices and said why not @bellissimoto & @pgeldz. Ya see the clown @mossrider between the clown and BOB showing up un-invited at the most inappropriate times, Iv'e had to justify buying parts. Ahh Heck I'm okay with it. I have the Nix-22 cartridges coming in soon too. Can anyone else hear that?? The GPFAX have a lot more initial bite, at least was the case on my R3 racebike. It's possible the initial bite felt strong because of the R3's lightweight, but from what I gather, the GPFAX have more initial bite in general than the EPFA. Oh and @fzar , you are definitely NOT the only one spending money on your bike. My wallet is so drained from building mine it's not even funny. The rear does feel a little lighter to me but would like to know for sure. Still waiting for Titanium fasteners to show up. gregjet Posted January 27, 2020 Share Posted January 27, 2020 Be careful with titanium fastners. They are awesome, strong and light, but they can gall the threads very easily. Make sure you use a titanium compatible lube on the threads and clean the carrier threads before you instal them. Note: If you use the wrong threadlock on them in some materials they can strip the threads off. Care is needed. If it is for a track bike use lube only and no thread lock and keep checking them. If you already know this , it is for anyone else that may be reading the post as well. A torque wrench is your ( and the fastners) friend. 1 Go forth and modify my son...go forth and modify...
