Buzzing noise when I hit the switch

Hey FZ Fam!

My 2015 is BUZZING

Also, hope this link works. Haven't shared a video before. So let me know!

It sounds like it's coming from under the seat, which is why I took it off. I'm not that mechanically inclined, so if anyone knows what this means... I'd greatly appreciate it.

THX

Sounds like your battery. If your battery is the original battery that came with the bike when new, I would get a new battery. I have a 2015 and my original battery failed this past summer. I always used a smart trickle charger on the battery, but time always wins.

Thanks you all - That was my initial thought, just wanted to make sure before I purchase one.

I'd charge the battery and check it for proper operation before replacing it. It could be something as simple as a loose connection.

Thanks. I did check more thoroughly after I made that video (and cleaned up all the dust that's accumulated since I bought the thing). And it still made the noise. Will go ahead and get a new battery - happy holidays LOL

How dare you take so long :P

I'd recommend a lithium, but some people don't care for em

I should have asked in my first post:

What's the history of your bike and the battery?

Does it sit for the winter, or ridden all year and often?

If it sits for the winter (or any other reason), do you put the battery on a charger?

Knowing this will help others learn about their own bikes and how they work.

Well to help others...

Had the bike since 2014. Over 42K miles on the stock battery.

Ridden regularly, all year round. Doesn't sit more than 2 weeks, because we're out of town :)

OK. Thank you for providing that information.

What I'd do is:

1) Put the battery on a suitable battery charger and leave it on there long enough to indicate it's fully charged, or as good as it's going to get.

2) Test the battery on a motorcycle battery tester in order to learn it's current heath, or lack of. Your local Yamaha (or other brand) motorcycle dealer's Service Dept. most likely has one.

3) If the battery tester indicates it's toast, buy new battery that's correct for your FZ-07. If you buy a new battery, MAKE SURE IT IS 100% FULLY CHARGED BEFORE IT"S INSTALLED. That's very important for the longevity of your new battery.

Please let us know how it ends-up, and good luck.

Drop a new battery in, one is about due anyway and if the buzzing noise stops you'll know it was the battery making the noise. If it doesn't you can do a new thread titled "Buzzing #2, They Were Wrong." 😄 GL!

Yah, 5 years and 42,000 miles is fantastic for battery life.  Get a new battery and you won't have to worry about being stranded for another 5 years.

SO first and foremost - The way the battery is placed, there is barely any wiggle room or points to grip that sucker out to pull it up out of there. That took the longest for me to do LOL.

BUT ALAS - The bike is back up and running :D Hopefully just in time for me to get one more ride in before the year is up
