What did you do to your Yamaha FZ-07 today?

Cruizin

Recommended Posts

changed the plugs yisterday....installed  the NGK LMAR8BI-9 Iridium plugs......

pulled just the right side plastic...it's very close in there but doable.... it DOES

start a bit quicker-better...no diff in running or power....only had 4,000 miles...

-----

removed the bar-end mirrors, bought a Tap, (16 x 1.5),  and tapped the Renthal

bars for the Yamaha bar-end weights...had to waller a drill bit around in there

for a bit and remove some more metal...didn't have the right size drill to drill it

out a bit, it's slightly small....got it tapped, installed the weights, and it DOES help.

buzz virtually GONE.

Are they wired to flash as well?  Just curious if they will overpower your flashers ?  Nice upgradees though.

Today the little ole scooter is getting a serious makeover 🤯... No hints till the parts arrive from overseas 🤪... Just arriving in time for my B-Day at the end of the month...

Okay a few hints 😋

Aftermarket Connection Rods, aftermarket valves, clutch pack and new piston rings 😍... Motor has approx 18k miles on it... I wonder if my work will make me a set of pistons 🤔, I'm sure they can but I'm not counting on it...

I may or may not sell my Hordpower Airbox and Yoshi exhaust combo...

I put black reflective tape on the rims. When light hits them they pop! Put them on for night time side profile visibility. This is a pic with the flash on. Very happy with how they came out. Can't tell they are there until light hits it. Cheap deal from amazon.

Also did the oil (rotella T6) and filter, Driven Meteor aluminium bars and shogun frame sliders.

Nice to see them! I bought them but haven't gotten around to installing them. Now that I just put new rubber on the rims I'll need to find the time. 👍

Lol they were sitting in my garage since July..... only took 15 minutes to put on. It was raining and I felt like spending some time with the bike.

Rode it yesterday after spending two weekends and about 350 miles on a 2020 Honda CB300R.

My FZ-07 felt like a torque monster that was very fun to ride.

It felt light, maneuverable, great suspension (rear Ohlins), excellent front brake (using a late model GSX-R 750 Nissin radial master cylinder), and an engine with excellent characteristics.

I say that out of all the street bikes I've owned, it has the best combination of traits.

By far.

Yes, my CB300R.

Over the last couple of years, my conscious has been telling me to gravitate toward bikes with less displacement.

So, I'm listening.

I'm not and never have been a reckless fool, so I put it down to natural survival instincts at work.

For the year-and-three-quarters that I didn't ride my FZ-07 while it was in storage, a Yamaha TW200 was my street bike, all 13 horsepower of it at the rear wheel.

I rode that TW by choice and still own it.

This CB300R fills the gap between TW200 and FZ-07.

Just curious.   I have a KLX250 for dual sport and general dirt/gravel play.  Working on a street tracker SR500 for too many years, need wiring now.   Selling off my 90 Zephyr 550 and a '11 Yamaha Zuma 125 shortly.   Tried scootering to see if it would get me out a bit more here in the flat lands, but just not quite it.   The XSR700 is getting me more seat time now, but really I wish it was the same bike with a similar design 500-550 twin instead.   I like smaller bikes because I get to play harder with the throttle and gear box without the crazy speeds.

I have a KLX250 for dual sport and general dirt/gravel play, but I hate wearing out good dual sport tires on the pavement.  Every time I rode on the streets exclusively I kept thinking about wasting the dual sport rubber. Still I don't think about the tire wear on the 700 since they are a regular street tire.

Working on a street tracker SR500 for too many years, need wiring now.   Selling off my 90 Zephyr 550 and a '11 Yamaha Zuma 125 shortly.   Too many bikes, not enough time.   The SR, KLX and XSR would be a good mix.

Okay, so I'm a little new to the forum and I'm too lazy to create my own build thread at the moment because I don't really have any plans but eventually I'll do some kind of timeline with all the pictures I have.

I bought my bike on January 30th of this year (it is currently November). The mods I have done (in rough chronological order are as follows:

February:

  • Two bro's exhaust
  • Proton 500 blinkers
  • ebay tail tidy
  • ebay windscreen

March:

  • tail tidy breaks because I only paid $25 for it
    • queue metal zip tie solution-

September-ish

  • saddle bags and rear shock (+ rep @kbob2000)
  • went a little crazy with carbon fiber vinyl wrap

A few days ago

  • dart manta windscreen, I have only had it on for one ride so far but I think I notice a moderate difference. There is still wind, but I am not "fighting" it so much anymore.
    • I will be posting my thoughts on it here:

tomorrow I will be installing a tank bag.

...so much for the fz07 being an affordable bike 😒🤦‍♂️

Speak for yourself. The rest of 'us' are models of restra.i..n...;

I wasn't buying it either, lol.

Seriously tho, looks good and it costs us all the same, all of it. 😈

Yep, I have about 50% if what I paid for the bike in the cost of mods, and I bought it new.  As long as my wife does not find out I think should be okay.  At least I am finally done...at least until one of you accomplices tells me about something else that I cannot do without ;) .

As the beloved Tank Girl would say: " Pa-pa-pa-Pow!"

Tight curvy road, heavy fog at night. Never saw the rock until it was too late. Front tire kicked it up and the oil pan just shattered. Anyone gotta spare laying around? lol

A buddy brought me the rock for a souvenir lol. Quart can for size and can still see the aluminum embedded on the surface.

The Urban Higdonion cage and skid is still a fantastic setup but...

Glad the back tire didn’t get a high speed oil wash and put you down! I had a buddy blow off an oil filter going 85mph and let’s just say it didn’t turn out to good for him. Count your blessings 🙏

Anyone gotta sparre.

They're about $65 plus shipping from parts whoever if you're in a hurry.

If you're done riding for the season and in no particular hurry I can get the one off my blown motor at my dyno guys and send it to you for shipping, $20ish. Prolly be a month or so tho.

Up to you.
