It was frustrating because even with the tank off, I needed a hugely elaborate set of extensions and U joints on my ratchet to get at the plugs.  No straight shot was possible.

If I remember correctly I only needed a 6in wobble extension extended just a bit further with a 3in extensions with my 14mm thin wall plug socket to get it out. I also have ABS bits to work around on my 2017 so I understand your frstrations. I found it harder to remove the caps than get the plugs in & out. The correct  socket made all the difference I feel. ✌️

Truth be told I've never disconnected the fuel line before. I don't even know how, haha. I just rotate it one way, set it down where the drivers seat should be, then put it back when I'm done.

Of course, it helps to let the tank go as empty as possible before you decide to work on the thing!

I didn't trust myself to not knock the tank off the seat area so spent the extra 30 seconds to disconnect the plug and hoses to move it to a safer location. 👍

I think the harness above the left plug is slightly different on the 2018+; seems that way from the videos I looked at anyways.

And yeah, like I said in my earlier post, the job is WAY easier with the correct socket.  I just used a 14mm deep socket to remove, and that was dumb.  I put them back in with a proper magnetic socket and it was world's easier.  I tried with a vacuum line, but because of the angles needed I wasn't able to control the angle the plug ended up at and couldn't get it to thread straight.

But the correct plug socket and a 3" extension provided a good way to control the angle and twist it in by hand (no dangers of cross threading when twisting the small round end of an extension with just your fingertips!)

For the tank, as I have rafters above my bike I could cheat.  Loop of ratchet straps and a Bungie cord around the base of the tank (it's rear mounting bracket) both keeps the rear elevated when you don't take the pivot bolt out, and allows easy and safe relocation without fear of dropping as worst case scenario the tank just hangs from that bracket:

Well since my Daytona got stolen I bought a triumph tiger 800. Just in time for the mabdr next week.

As for the FZ its now got ohlins front and rear!!! Ohlins nix 22 for the forks and stx46 shock for the rear. The fz will be my track bike now. I plan on buying another Daytona 675 at some point next year and when I do the fz will be converted to an FZ07R. All the fz 07r mod that I can put on while still keeping the bike street legal will but added over the winter and once I have the new Daytona I'll buy the fz07r body work.

Finally replacing my original Michelin Pilot 3 with a brand new Michelin Pilot 5.  Guess I'm pretty easy on my tires, bike is at 33,703 km.  Love my bike, and these tires.

21,000 miles? Did you ever get past 1/4 throttle? 😁

That is the most miles on a motorcycle tire of have ever heard of! Would be hard pressed not to buy the same ones.

Needed to relax, so took the FZ for spin. 300 miles later and I REALLY  do not want to go home. Eating gas station donuts and drinking coffee to get a boost for trip home. Works gonna suck extra hard tomorrow...

Put on an National Cycle VStream Sport windscreen and a cyclops LED. The windscreen ended up doing exactly what I wanted it to while not managing to look like a barn door. It doesn't eliminate the wind, just makes it a lot smoother so now I don't feel like a bobblehead on the highway (especially when doing shoulder checks to change lanes).

One thing though, I definitely get a little more wind noise now. I went from "I can get away without earplugs" to "I should probably get a pair." My helmet is a Shoei RF1200 for reference - I ride with all the vents open, too.

Problem solved! Plan B: Don't go home, crash in random pavilion for a few hours sleep, ride around the storm all morning and decide to worry about work another day. Yeah, my phone camera sucks, but my bike is damn cool lol.

Cockpit upgrade! I went with the Carmichaels bars.  While I was at it, I put on an R6 throttle tube (shorter throw), CRG Lanesplitters, Driven D3 grips, ASV F3 shorties, and a Rokform phone mount.

I wish I could redo the holes for the throttle assembly and kill-switch.  I'd prefer the throttle assembly cables to be in front of the brake master-cylinder,  the kill switch rotated a little further forward, and the throttle tube a little closer to the edge of the bars.  But I don't know the structural implications of having more holes drilled in aluminum handlebars, and I'd rather not find out the hard way.

I'm also a little disappointed that the stiffener bar-thing that came on the Pro-Taper bars (with the foam wrapper on it - none of which is pictured) left a couple of marks on the bars; not the end of the world, I might just put a couple of pieces of electrical tape to cover it.

I just recently with with Woodcraft clipons and had never previously done handlebars on a motorcycle. I didn't realize the plastic assemblies had those locating pins, so I was bummed at first that the bars didn't come with any holes drilled. The silver lining though is that - being clip-ons - I can still rotate the individual bars and dial in everything after the fact. Then the pins hold everything in place once the bars are clamped. Just something to consider if you find you cannot adjust to the new bars well.

Not today, but on Thursday. I dropped my FZ-07 off at my Yamaha dealer for the valves to be adjusted, new chain and sprockets, have a blinker wire connector replaced (I broke it) and just have them check the wheel bearings. Should have it sometime between Thursday and Saturday this week.

Where did you get the black fz07 ‘grip’? I just put red fairings on mine and I need something to take the red down a notch.

Took her to the track again. Still getting over being scared to carry speed through the corners but definitely getting some of the speed back. Not going fast enough to lean more
