faffi
Just to throw another log onto the fire; a member at a Deauville forum claim to have nearly 50k miles on standard style NGK spark plugs fitted to his NT650V. I have no way to verify the person's claim, nor any real reason to distrust the claim.

faffi
I agree with you, but he claimed the bike fired on the button and ran fine and hence saw no need to change them just because. Personally, I would probably replace them much sooner.

Premium Member Popular Post pgeldz Posted December 6, 2018 Premium Member Popular Post Share Posted December 6, 2018 What did I do to my FZ-07 Today? I wheeled it to the other side of the garage so I can make room for this: Tarmac Faction's Cafe Racer Project...the ultimate XSR900!!! Some of you know I started my own road racing team, Tarmac Faction, using the Yamaha R3. Well, I wanted something to fill the gap between my R3 racebike and my MotoGP Inspired FZ-07 streetbike. Something worthy of both, but with a unique style all it's own. This is the result. Hope you like it The first pic shows the rendering on top with the finished bike below. It's not everyday you get to see what actually goes into making one of these special bikes, but at Tarmac Faction there are no secrets. I wanted to show the world what's possible when injecting an ordinary bike with the DNA of a racebike, using the highest quality components available to the public. Nothing on this bike was fabricated with the exception of the turn signals and rear tail light, and from start to completion the project took just 4 weeks. . I'm a big fan of your FZ-07 build and track experiences. I am slowly accumulating parts for my FZ-07 based on your build. Thank you again for taking the time to show us your bike and for sharing your parts and mods list with us. RojoRacing
Installed a Rowe Electronics PDM60 Power Distribution Module under the passenger seat and added a connector for my Gerbing heated gear to one of the 10amp circuts. I was always ashamed of the rats nest of wires under the seat of my ninja 250 so I'm taking extra steps to install my accessories as cleanly ass possible. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/rowe-electronics-pdm60-power-distribution-module I could use suggestions of where to mount this dual USB charging port, naked bikes lack the needed plastic paneling around the instrument cluster to add things like this. It'll be for charging my phone most the time with the second port maybe for the Gopro later on.

Zephyr
Broke my right hand index finger at the joint connecting to the hand...Split the end of the bone in half. Looks like I'm down til mid-late Jan at the earliest. Going to see the bone doc on Monday to find out if more time/treatment is required. Sucks hard since I just purchased a fuel container and told the wife I had never run the tank dry yet, but was about to give it a go. I really need a good long ride right now too. {Sry if this comes off as a downer.} Hope you guys are having a great Holiday season. Merry Christmas!

In fact it was an action I had done several times before. Just something about this time must have been a bit different in the angle, speed or position that produced a shock wave that burst my ring finger blood vessels and broke the pointer. Anxious to use the finger already and its been only a few days. Luckily? for me I had lost the use of my right hand once before (for an entire year) so I already do a lot with my non dominant hand and am familiar with accomplishing tasks one handed. RojoRacing
1 hour ago, sorkyah said: Is that just a standard oven? I'm curious about starting to powder coat stuff for my business instead of paint I bought a used double decker oven off craigslist for $50 and proceeded to powdercoat a ton of stuff on my bikes and tools. Before that started with a used toaster oven I picked up from a yard sale and the $40 powder coating gun from harbor freight doing small parts to see if I wanted to make the larger investment. There's definitely a learning curve so start with parts to don't care about as much first but you'll pick it up quick enough.
shinyribs
2 hours ago, sorkyah said: Is that just a standard oven? I'm curious about starting to powder coat stuff for my business instead of paint The oven in that post is a ridiculously overpriced laboratory oven originally market towards medical types, I guess. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3D-Systems-PROJET-FINISHER-1-A-Max-Temp-204C-1200W-10A-Heater-s-n-04KA0244/173525064969?hash=item2866e65d09:g:4V4AAOSwTuhblTu9 A buddy and I bought out a guy who was retiring from powder coating. I have very little in that oven, but it is very quiet convection oven and holds a very consistent temp. A standard house oven works perfectly well, but I don't have the room in my shop to add one. I would prefer a standard oven as I can just barely fit a 17" wheel in mine. I paid less than $300 for my gun, the oven and a few different jugs of powder. I hate paint. So many solvents and airborne things trying to kill you. Zero clean up with powder. Just wear a standard respirator until the dust settles and go about your day. I love it. Definitely look in to a dual voltage gun. For doing aluminum bits I would consider it a must-have. I use the feature very often. A few times on the parts in that post, actually. And Rojoracing is right about the learning curve. It's very forgiving compared to wet paint, but there's still a few tricks to learn to really nail it down. I'm still learning.
