Might have to change the team name to Dumpster Dave's or Goodwill Racing, lol. I enjoy refurbishing fiberglass to save a few bucks to help offset the cost of the cool go fast goodies. Frees up shop space for Andy too.

Curious to see how much weight this shaves too. Last time I weighed was at pittrace 2019 on MotoAmerica's scales I was 156kg with 2 gals of fuel onboard. I just wish my weight loss program was as effective as the bikes.

Weightloss program for the riders is usually MUCH cheaper than the weightloss program  for the bike....

just sayin, eat less+spend less= more race parts...

Didn't get much done but have a good time. I made two different batches of chilli, testing new recipes to defend my chilli championship.

Walleye pepper chilli in foreground was a hit but they seemed to like the sirloin tip w/bacon version on back burner the best. Heathens. They did wipe out my apple pie moonshine however.

Found out Suzuki con-rods make just enough power to open dos equis bottles, lol.

I got 3 sets of SV fairings glassed up and ready for the season. Slipper in my motor and buttoned up w/o injury, never mind the small fire. A little bit of setup on my chassis and drilled a filter by-pass in an SV fuel pump to get another 15 years out of it on track, haha

IMG_20200104_174430.thumb.jpg.b1083da38c3c235ecaf12719eeb76f79.jpg

Tore down some old blown SV motors to salvage parts in preparation for a couple motor builds.

No injuries or arrests, winter can be pleasant enough I guess.

Weighed myself dismorning.... uugghhh. I've topped out at my heaviest ever on record. I'm quitting dinner and its only Coors light from here on in. I really should get my priorities straightened out!

And now he is riding for Kawasaki!   Most likely a more proper bike for him than the Norton.

@fzar

My rebuild parts for the old Brembo P32/34 showed up so I hung the new under slung qizmo on the swinger and mocked up a brake line and bleed the system down. Neat little caliper from a bygone era. That skeletonized rotor is pretty cool too, weighs like nothing,

IMG_20200112_142906.thumb.jpg.6beb1f3592b2b349baa5846f2a4ffac9.jpg

Then I putzed around fitting up the rear seat and realized I'm off a smidgen on the set back of course.

IMG_20200112_145726.thumb.jpg.82105db122045e7ff95071160ffac4ac.jpg

Started patching up the hand-me-down bodywork too. Stuff should look fine when finished.

Yesterday was -32F actual, today a little better, but a good weekend to hide in the shop.

Not much left of what I bought from Yamaha, lol.

Sexy looking, doe's the rear caliper use the same slide bar (tab) as the OEM on the swingarm?Just upside down!!  Jeez that rotor looks like it came of my mountain bike, cool nonetheless and practical. Did you leave the rear brake line the same length? I do like the way its turned around on the master cylinder. Heck I like all of it, wheel, rotor, caliper too. But that tyre!!!!

Also stock airbox??

The brake stay uses the same lug on the swingarm as the stock one does yes. I was lucky with the brake line. The SS Spiegler line I had on there before fit. I just end for ended it to get the angles i wanted and swapped the bleeder screw and banjo bolt in the caliper to get the length right.

Don't get me started on the airbox, that's covered adnuseum elsewhere here. I've done extensive testing and this is the best I've come up with.

The tire is a take off junker on there so I can roll it around the shop and to protect the wheel from Bob.

Had a couple days off which is always dangerous. Started thinking about splitting the stock 3 piece head gasket and messing with the squish and compression ratio. Since I put together the previous motor with reliability in mind I didn't mess with it any more than necessary and used a stock head gasket when I reassembled it. I tend to be my own worst enemy some times.

IMG_20191106_155311.thumb.jpg.d333bba041ed5d1c4fc11ad0ba930276.jpg

The pic above is the stock head gasket I pulled out. Bellow I've pulled it apart trying to talk some sense into myself.

IMG_20191107_094802.thumb.jpg.4127d37e6de979fce9e5581b9119033f.jpg

Might be a cheaper way for me to get a couple of horse power w/o going with high compression pistons and rods and such. Hmm?

Here's a cool link to some cool online calculators for all you mental masterbaiters out there. You know who you are...

Let's go folks, who's with me?

The restrictors are in the inner layer of the head gasket.  You have to make custom ones to keep them.

I have some different sizes if you want to play with them give me a call or message.

That caliper hanger was made by me.  I'll shoot you a message about it, that appears to be a non standard one.

Fork tubes, half the frame, engine cases and swingarm are all that's left of the original bike, haha.

  • 4 weeks later...

So due to stupid weather I had 4 1/2 feet of snow to get off the roofs. In return I got 10 days of stupid sickness, disease and pestilence as a reward for getting the snow off roof. I haven't got much done until today.  So w/o further ado, I got the motors swapped over.

Lined up & ready to go,

IMG_20200209_135025.thumb.jpg.627619b57f216f4e3a299fa238e6d4d1.jpg

One out,

One in,

Sadly, still not much done.

We'll start the season on a fresh motor anyway.

I've been sick as well.  Knocked me on my ass.  Done little on the bike this past week, but slowly getting back at it.

Ha, that makes 3 of us... haven’t touched the bike in 2 weeks. Still have it tore apart. No rush though as it’s snowing...
