Premium Member blackout Posted October 17, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted October 17, 2019 Started stripping the bike down for some more custom parts. I'll try machining a new top triple with it's main purpose to allow standard clipons to mount a half inch higher than with the stock triple. I plan to revisit my ram-air intake which will most likely require a custom fuel tank. The bike is going full track, so lights will be removed and the upper fairing lowered to accomidate the lower clipon position. As usual, this thread will be updated as I go so you guys can witness any fails, but hopefully more success. 8 Craig Mapstone Upstate New York

Premium Member blackout Posted November 5, 2019 Author Premium Member Share Posted November 5, 2019 10 minutes ago, sorkyah said: lookin good to me what're the tapped holes there on the front side for? They are for cinching the triple to the forks and center pivot. It's a some what unique design having the cinch bolts on the inside. This allowed the outside ends of the triple to be more shallow so that the clip-ons can be positioned farther up on the fork tubes. The bottom of this triple is flat. The stock triple bends down quite a bit (A common feature on bikes with handle bars.), forcing the clip-ons lower than most super sports. That's my observation anyways, I have not taken exact measurements off other bikes. If this triple works, the forks tubes will need to go up at least 3/16" in height, changing the bike's geometry, but many racers seem to run up to 5/16" higher. The clip-ons will be able to mount 1/2" higher over the stock setup and the outside cinch bolt is gone so risers can now be used without adding a spacer to clear the stock cinch bolt. 1 1 Craig Mapstone Upstate New York

Premium Member blackout Posted November 12, 2019 Author Premium Member Share Posted November 12, 2019 Top triple is done. So, this design allows standard clip-ons to mount 0.50" higher than stock. The forks need to be .187" inches up. I was lazy and nervous and only removed a small amount of material from underneath. A CNC version would be lighter. With that being said, the part surviving a crash is important. 1 Craig Mapstone Upstate New York

Here is the build thread for the 2017 R6 fairings. A lot of work was required to make them work for high street friendly clip-ons. On a pure track bike it would be much easier as the side panels would not need to be extended. 1 Craig Mapstone Upstate New York

Unless it's brand new, a fuel tank is never empty. Ask any welder. But, there is no fire in the wood stove. What filter are you referring to? Premium Member blackout Posted November 13, 2019 Author Premium Member Share Posted November 13, 2019 For 2020, I decided to adapt 2019 R3 bodywork. I decided I wanted something more narrow and did not want to hack up my modified for street R6 side fairings. Hopefully the R3 fairings won't be too narrow for the 07 engine. Two years ago I almost went with 2017 R3 bodywork, but never pulled the trigger because I disliked the looks so much. But the new R3 looks like it belongs in the R-world. And a ram-air intake opening all set to go. 1 Craig Mapstone Upstate New York
Premium Member blackout Posted November 13, 2019 Author Premium Member Share Posted November 13, 2019 The tail fits nice. The rear mounting holes on the tail line up perfectly with the welded frame nuts. This makes sense as I believe the R3 uses similar rear light parts as the FZ07. 2 Craig Mapstone Upstate New York
