Tighten Mirrors

Recommended Posts

Is there a special tool to tighten the stock mirrors ?  I removed the top cap and there is a 10 mm nut . I can't find a thin wall socket that will fit inside to tighten it.   Area in red is loose. Nut is under cap 17

as an example; there's tons - search for 10mm thin wall socket.

Or just sand down a socket - stick it in a drill, spin to grind it on a file/sandpaper/whatever - this is what I did, mostly because I didn't want to wait the whole two days Amazon was going to take to ship to me.

You shouldn't need a socket to tighten the mirrors - a spanner should be used on the hexagonal mirror base.

One of the mirrors is reverse thread too.

Both of my mirrors won’t tighten and we’re replaced under warranty.
