Why not ask yosh for a sponsorship at this point

or at least for a longer lasting can. 😁

I have. I sent my first can in for a repack and they called me back and said "WTF did you do to this?" They said it looked like I was trying to muffle a Rolls Royce turbine, all burned up inside and work hardened. They sent me a new one for a reasonable price and hooked me up with a nice sponsorship deal. I used it to replace the next can (cooked and blown) and also got a full system when that can ruptured. (My current spare system)

The can in the above pic is that can and the spare carbon can I scored from AP is now on the bike. The sponsorship has since expired and I'm going to look at another system next for racing. More so for the sake of experimentation than anything. I know guys with other systems that have this problem or that problem with their systems too so I don't necessarily think Yosh is a bad system just that when ridden hard these bikes generate a ton of pressure and heat what with the short head pipes and deactivated throttle chop fueling etc.

You can see the heat discoloration in this view on the inlet side and that's with a proper tune and proper fuel/air ratios.

You can also see where the rupture started at the unsupported weld seam on the outlet end, sometimes its the other end. Apparently work hardened again.

Meh, next.

Thanks for the info. 👍

Out of curiosity, from your trackside experience, are the Akra's just as likely to have blowouts as the all the other brands?

Does anyone make track ready cans that can handle racing?

Is the exhaust can losing a "cooling ability" when you are using the body kit or no or irrelevant???

Is damage happen more often with or without baffle???

I know some racers repack exhaust every 3-5 track days/races...

Also, would one of the higher spec cans not fit the 07 pipe?

Something off an r1 or similar?

ATGATT... ATTATT, two acronyms I live by.

Actually because of initial cost I don't see many Akros on race bikes; track day bikes that are street legal yes, race bikes no. Now that you mention it I see mostly cheaper systems on race bikes, like Yosh, M4, black widow, 2 Brother. I see Graves, Akros, on trackday/street bikes. Makes sense cause we wreck stuff.

I've never seen a blown up Akro, broken fasteners and stuff from vibration yes. Blown out rivets yes. Ruptured cans, no.

It's been my experience that racing will wreck any-everything eventually.

This may come as a surprise to some of you but I'm hard in stuff. 😈 I may try to fit an Akro race can to my Yosh head pipes next. 😏

You ask 3 valid questions. The short answer is "I have no data to make an informed  determination".

1. I think since the bodywork is designed to improve airflow to the radiator the cooling should be a non issue.

2. I have never run 'baffle in' so I don't know.

3. Yeah, I repacked one time and blew it up the next race. Now I race till failure and start over. (Once/year it seems)

Simple case of too much "Horsepressure" 🤓

We got down to 1:55's with room to spare which is not bad for a track day, BUT,

This happened to my Yosh can. Third one that's failed. Good thing I went dumpster diving at AP's a couple weeks ago and scored that carbon version as a spare. Looks like metal fatigue as opposed to heat related. It's just ripped open and it barfed it's packing out. I know we generate some high pressures and heat since I've cooked 2 others from the inside out. This one shows no signs of excessive heat however.

We're gonna throttle back for today and digest our data. Great day!

Same exact thing has happened to me mid race on a new system, IIRC 5-6 sprint races. I replaced my system with a longer upsweep system and havnt had issues since. You will lose a slight bit of torque on the dyno but wont be scraping or blowing up cans.

Get rid of the short style exhaust. Works fine on street bikes but not fz07 race bikes. Its most likely a combination of the vibration, race gas, heat. In no particular order.

I believe you are correct, but forgot the Tauntaun on its back 😉

Baffle in creates more heat.  Tyga suggests to not use a baffle on their carbon cans for that reason.  Mossrider, take a look at Tyga cans.  They list all dimensions on their website.

Pittsburgh round, race 1 update:

Practice went well after last weekend's high heat and humidity. Qualifying was ok and we put it on the grid P29 of 37. Not great but we were chasing setup and gearing and dialing in tires.

Finished the race in P18 which was awesome. We gained more spots than any other rider. Our trap speeds were ok, we dropped our lap times and set a new personal best. IMG_20190825_081843.thumb.jpg.17ffd62d1c8eff1ae398ea047a6c926b.jpg

Back to it today for race 2.

Stay tuned for more...

Yeeaah,

30th to last on the start with a gigantous tomahawk wheelie, fought back to 23rd with his head out of his tail pipe. We'll take it. Great close racing throughout the grid!

Slipper was great, new Galespeed wheel was great. Trap speeds up over 130 with the big shooter's after a gearing change.

Good times.

Thats fast on a twin at Pitt, the track is almost all corners and a big hill leading on to the start/finish straight. WOW. Well done (Anthony) I hope I got his name right. And all involved at BlueLine racing.👍 (and the creator @mossrider) Oops!! My bad.
