(CMRA events too) When Moto-America kicks off- Go to as many as I can, within reason. I also believe that there were also some circumstances that caused this failure, testing by manufacturer said that this piece would sustain way more load than any motorcycle could put on it at any time. I've had aluminum parts fail like that before. It's a fatigue failure. Aluminum can not handle those loads without more bulk. TenRacing Posted December 20, 2020 Author Share Posted December 20, 2020 SO I have not been on the forum in quite a while, working full time, doing track side support, running another business yada yada yada. thought i'd pop on for a bit and update a couple posts. The Silver Bullet did me good this year, didn't get the motor built but I did manage a fairly good season. AND I partnered with Dave at BlueLine Racing for the INDY round of Moto America. We used his bike with my body work, and put together an awesome weekend, for the most part, Practice friday morning was cool and wet and I fell down... dammit. Friday afternoon I managed P14 in Q1, Saturday morning another damp cool session in Q2 and did not better my time, ended up P17 on the grid. got a good start and battled around top 15 the entire race, ending up P14. Not bad for a 52 yo that hasn't raced at the national level in over 15 years. Even though I didn't get to compete in all the events I had hoped to, I did manage to get some good finishes. Overall class championship finishes with Central Roadracing Association Formula 40 F1 1st Lightweight SuperBike 2nd Lightweight Grand Prix 2nd Super Twins 3rd Overall CRA points 20th. Great results considering I did not run the final event with the CRA. I also attended the CCS round at Blackhawk Farms which was our 'away' event for the CRA, was also a CCS event that payed CRA points. Considering it was my first time at Blackhawk Farms, I was very happy with these results. 3rd in Formula 40 Lightweight 1st in Thunderbike 5th in Lightweight SuperBike 7th in Lightweight GrandPrix. TenRacing Posted June 29, 2021 Author Share Posted June 29, 2021 So, over the winter I finally got a proper motor build, throttle bodies, cams, head work, rods, slipper, etc... frickin thing RIIIIIPS! did a good shake down at BIR, in May, until i ham fisted sunday morning and highsided myself to the moon... Was chasing a dog tracking issue from last year yet, so after this highside AP and I decided it was time for a frame swap. We also found a couple things that needed to be addressed with the Head Studs, got that resolved, did a quick test at DCTC, found a leaking radiator hose spigot on the radiator, got that fixed. Took the bike to Road America for a Track Day and to get my bearings on that track, hadn't raced there since the early 00's was happy with the chassis and felt more prepared for the Moto America event we were attending. The Moto America event, that @mossrider reported on went way better than we could have expected. even with a shortened practice. The track day earlier definitely helped. Went out in Q1 dropped a chunk of time, and of course came in on what would have been my best lap. went back out for a couple more laps at the end of the session. Ended up Q1 with P9, Q2 was all about ME finding speed, the bike was what it was, full tank of fuel and I ran the entire session non stop, went faster but so did others, we dropped to P11, not bad. Race time saturday afternoon, I got a crap start, but stayed with the faster group, after the turd circus of first lap shenanigans, I picked off a couple riders, reeled in who turned out to be Ryne Snooks, and proceeded to overshoot canada corner, losing 4 seconds, back on it I reeled him in again, only to run wide in 6, which allowed Knowles to catch me, we worked together a bit and caught Snooks again, and at the white flag I passed him, had an epic braking battle down in to turn 5, and I held him off there and for the rest of the lap to finish 7th. We checked all the boxes, and almost made our stretch goal of top 5. As a rider with no real mechanical skills I say without reservation you are f**king stud. Be safe and take the checked flag.
