Beautiful shock!

Is the bell crank a first gen from Andy Palmer?   I ask because he had a failure and redesigned the bell crank to better carry the forces between the shock and dog bone link.  With the above design the forces are concentrated at the main pivot where there is little bulk to handle the loads.

Where or what position would this put me in? I'm installing a AP 1st. gen  rear link/riser using everything else stock on the swingarm and a Ohlins stx-46 rear shock? nothing to worry about! or should I be concerned ???

Do you have a first gen AP bell crank like shown in the above picture?  If yes, then there is a clear design flaw and it needs to be upgraded.  Andy shared the picture I posted on FB over the summer and said he will replace them with his new design.

@fzar, send me a picture of what you have if you are uncertain.

Below is a picture of the stock bell crank.  The distance between the two lines is roughly 1.13 inches.  Anything less on a newly designed part would be a compromise in strength.  Especially since the aftermarket bell cranks seem to all have a longer arm where the shock attaches.  This only increases forces at the main pivot area.

My boy  came up last weekend as we finally got started on the bikes for next year.  He's fitting a Parrish body on his first gen SV,  we both got new woodcraft rearsets and stands.

I've got a list of parts and things I want to do but a very short stack of cash... #racerprobs

Started with the shock/link, then it was eithe mod the subframe for clearance of buy AP aluminum one... which you can see what option I chose

Like @mossrider stated 6# weight savings over stock.

I still need to clean up where I cut the bottom tubes off the main frame.

I modded the battery tray as well, will post pics tomorrow.

I have found one used and I believe it is the 1st generation link. I am not sure if Andy will replace it since I am not the original purchaser.
I am also curious how it worked with you STX? Let me know <img src=">

I believe I purchased a 1st. gen from @pgeldz I don't have it installed. I'll run the stock link as long as I can ride( weather permitting) and then if I get a 2-3 day hiatus I'll be pulling the entire swingarm and replacing all the seals and re-greasing, with the link installation. Was there a problem with the 1st. Gen link? If so I din't hear of it. @1tondriver

I'll take measurments tomorrow as it seems as it doesn't matter if it's installed or not as the bell crank measurment would be the same on or off the bike. I don't know if I have the Gen 1 or not!!

Well I bowed out and deleted a few posts. Bike is coming together nicely. Now back to your original programming 👍
