Zero is throwing out hints at a totally new electric motorcycle on 2-25-2019, the SR-F

From Zero

Quote

“More than a new model, the Zero SR/F is an entirely new platform. Zero SR/F combines cutting-edge technology with the most powerful drivetrain Zero has ever produced. The result is the most integrated, premium, and high performance electric motorcycle the company has ever created. The Zero SR/F provides an effortlessly powerful experience in the naked street bike category. Further details of the Zero SR/F will be unveiled worldwide on February 25, 2019.”

At first glances, the SR-F appears to have a new four segment LED headlight, a larger than normal faux fuel tank for Zero, which could hold extra battery space or a controller or even a charger. I also see a larger than normal coil over shock.

Zero has to be getting ready for whatever Harley Davidson's Livewire turns out to be , and it's good to see them still innovating instead of resting on the SR platform.

I look forward to seeing more on 2-25-19.

I bet you could buy two Zeros for the price of the Harley.  I sat on a Zero at a motorcycle show a couple of years ago and was surprised how heavy it was.  I would love to ride one though.

They're just too damned noisy! <img src=">

Simple fix.  Just get an aftermarket exhaust system.

And don't forget to pick up a quickshifter while you're at it.

I heard they tend to stay in one gear without one. 😉

The quickshifter is much like the aftermarket exhaust:  not applicable.

Would that new exhaust be new headphones or a Bluetooth speaker mounted on the handle bars?

Having speakers inside helmets would do it (choose your bike!). No need to trouble the public. Mind you, we would not pass by in total silence - there is still wind and tyre noise, and a delicious whine presumably.

Just do it!

Pinto beans, pickled eggs and beer.  Then wait ...

If you're going to ride, replace the beer with vegetable or fruit juice.

God, I really should get a Zero for my next bike.  I moved recently and it turns out where I moved to isn't as fun as my old neighborhood for riding.  I went from back-country farm and industrial roads with no cars to middle class suburbs (did it for the high rated school district for the kids) with busy ass main streets which is a huge bummer, so I'm thinking of selling all 3 motorcycles and just having a zero for whenever I feel like getting on 2 wheels.

Its been 7 months since I moved and I must've only put a total of 50 miles across all 3 bikes.  So sad.

Damn 19k before tax and freight.  I don't think I want to spend that much for the occasional riding.

Its pretty though.

Its a damn good looking bike.  Maybe Bernie will get elected and impose a huge tax rebate for e-bikes!

Did you guys see the range amd power specs they released on this beauty?! 110hp, 140 lbs of torque, 179 mile city range, 90 mile highway range AND the fast charger gives 95% capacity in an hour. Id love one of these.

I'd love to know what 140 ft/lbs of power under my butt feels like... that being said, in my mind electric bikes are the antithesis to conventional ICE bikes. ICE bikes make more power the faster you go (within reason). Electric bikes give you all their power up front (within reason) but as you go faster they tend to lose some of that oomph. Tesla's are relatively known for this as they're wickedly fast off the line, but don't feel nearly that fast once they're going 80+.

It'll be a hard swap for people who're used to super sport engines that just keep building power the faster you go. That's never been my style of riding anyway, so I'm relatively eager for electric bikes - I just wonder if they'll sell very well. I have a hard time biting at that price point too. Ouch.

As speed limits get ever more oppressive an electric bike makes more sense then. The weight is not too bad. Just a shame the price is in exotica territory. Presmably when production increases, price might lower. Seems to have a similar profile to our 07 which can't be bad.

Just do it!

I have just read how difficult rideouts with your mates will be with electric with everyone running out of juice at different times.....

Just do it!
