Exactly what I'm asking. I'm looking for the best leather jacket. Bold statements welcome. Im personally looking for one that will do well for around 0° celsius and isn't more than $500

in my opinion, the best leather jackets are the ones that have airbags now and are $800+

just sayin' :D

As far as warmth, I'd opt for more layers or something underneath to keep me warm.

I have had a few friends mention the air bag jackets but I'll probably never dish out that kind of cash for them lol

Best is subjective.  I like my Alpinestars a lot.  I think I have the Jaws and it is perforated.  If you want it for close to freezing temperatures I would get the non-perforated one though.

As far as leather:

I have accumulated probably $20,000 in riding gear over the years. Some of it high dollar crap from major manufacturers. Some of it low dollar crap from flea markets. But I have to say the one jacket that literally comes to me and puts itself on when I get near a bike is my Major Ego from First Mfg. For a budget jacket it's held up for 18 years, the leather is butter soft, comes with basic armor, has weathered to a beautiful butternut patina over a hundred thousand all weather miles and has useful features. It's getting ratty and looks a little rough now but it's my leather go to.

By far my favorite.

The best? I don't know about that but it's what I wear as a daily rider. For a sub 3 bills scrap of leather I haven't found anything that touches it, including a custom jacket that cost triple that.

my 5yr old set of AGV "Willow" leathers have held up nicley... when it dips below 50°F I start wearing my heated jacket liner- below 35°F I add another layer with a hoodie to use with the heated liner...  the leather pants are warm but maybe only used the heated pants like 5-7 times but still wear em as a "layer"...    for rain I use a rain suit over the leathers... most days( nights since I work 3rd shift) I just use a hoodie under the jacket...

Its best to buy the leathers in size after you have taken measurements with the normal layers you normally would wear ... otherwise they get tight when you start adding layers...

you dont wanna order leathers to big otherwise they feel like "sails"...

I can't match 18 years, but I'll second the First Mfg jacket recommendation as a great affordable option.

I have a A* GP-R non-perforated jacket, I can tell you this it is very comfortable in conditions from 90F-50F it has a lot of air moving in through the non-leather stretch panels in the inside of the arm and arm-pit area. Below that I layer and its not a problem with my core temp. I picked it up sub $3 new on a price match deal. I don't know if its the best, but I like it.

But with that said, I no longer wear leather jackets.

The very best bike jackets I have ever owned are Klim.  By far, the best.

My Street bike jacket is the Klim Apex.   Best jacket I have ever owned, true waterproof,  padding, padding, padding, pockets galore, comfortable, will save your life, looks good I get compliments.

They make a summer version of it too Klim Apex Air

And this is my Dirtbike/Adventure Jacket Klim Badlands Pro

Once you own good Klim gear, you stop looking anywhere else.

Definitely going to check out all of these recommendations, thanks everyone!

I"m a little late to this thread, but I have an old Harley leather jacket that is so comfortable to wear, came with a quilted liner, but is at the taylor for a new ziper at the moment.  I got it when I was living in Alaska and commuting 160 miles a day when weather permitted.  I remember one really strong cloud burst I had to ride through to get home.  The jacket dried out quite well.  I never got cold and it is so thick with extra padding in the elbows and back.  It's a good winter riding jacket for New Mexico.  Good luck with your search.

BTW I don't ride Harleys any more.  I only have Huskies and a Beta now.  But I wish I had a T7.

I'm a big fan of Teknik jackets and leathers. I have a biggish neck which is a small annoyance of the jacket but strangely not on the full leathers.

Go forth and modify my son...go forth and modify...

The perfect leather Jacket?

You might as well have asked what the perfect motorcycle, woman, weapon or religion is. Everyone's idea of perfect is different depending on their situation.

Best of luck finding your version of Perfect. 👍

List best leather jackets:

Edit: They're not leather but if you want a more 'winter specific jacket' that performs better than just leather and a liner you may prefer these instead. If you're taking short rides I would recommend the Joe Rocket because although it doesn't have breathable material (which is important on longer rides) it will do the job at a very low price, less the leather and it looks good. The higher priced ones are breathable so you don't get over heated and sweaty but you pay for it. A life long jacket would be worth the prices asked. The Klim is premium. GL and stay frosty!

I have had a few brands of leather jackets over the years, but I have settled on Joe Rocket for the fit on me and the finish as well. They are not super fancy jackets and some are a little too showy, but I have the perforated hyperdrive jacket

I also got a Yamaha Rev iT textile/mesh jacket, but yet to wear it coz its almost embarassing with the # of Yamaha words and Icons on it - Even Ray Charles could probably tell its a Yamaha jacket... :)

Man, that JR jacket is a very nice looking jacket. I've got a Dainese Stripes leather jacket that I love, but it's perforated. Even with the thermal liner it get's quite chilly. I've been wanting another leather jacket for fall and this look like the ticket. Thanks for sharing!

I know Joe Rocket isn't considered high on the food chain.  I'll admit their stuff can be hot or miss, but I've got some JR products that are absolutely fantastic. Their more expensive stuff is usually very well made and their leather products have always seemed very nice IMO.

@shinvribs - Glad to share. That's the best part of the internet.

Yeah, I have had the best of luck with Joe Rocket. They are the Honda race teams official jacket, so cannot be that horrid.

Yes, I think it's a solid jacket. I have it paired with D3O armor, which I never had to test, thank the lord. I went with perforated as I wear it only during the summer months. I will warn you that's It's a very tight jacket, fit wise. I put on 10 pounds, went back to try it on and it was tight...lol.

I never said perfect but best, but exactly like you are saying, best for me will be my version of best. Just wanted everyone else's opinion of which one they think is best to get a gague of what everyone else uses since I'm pretty new to the street

There are a lot of people who are selling Leather Jackets online and I got mine from one of them and I'm pretty satisfied with my decision of buying it online as it came on my doorstep and on top of that there is a policy of return and exchange if there is any issue with the order. I got mine from here Leather N Jacket
