First bike! Austin, TX

Hi all!

I just got my first bike, and it's a used 2016 FZ-07 with 5,800 miles on it. I've been into performance driving, track days, and wrenching exclusively on cars for 10+ years, but decided to finally take the leap down to two wheels. Looking forward to getting immersed in the culture and learning how to ride/wrench on this bike.

See y'all around.

Congrats.  Black is never a bad choice with bikes.

It'll be dead sexy if you finish blacking out the midsection and passenger pegs IMO.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Thanks for the suggestion! I never thought black motorcycles were cool-looking until I saw this one. I think the matte finish is what did it for me.

Welcome to the site and the sport.

Nice choice for a 1st bike. I remember mine, a mid-60s CB72 Honda, aka a Hawk 250. You'll have nothing but excellent memories of your FZ in 50 years. Best memory i have of that Honda - it didn't kill me.  It's just impossible to describe how much better bikes are today.

Welcome and congrats! I lived in Austin for 17 yrs., it can be a fun place to ride (hill country) and a dangerous one (city) also so be alert. If you're really interested in blacking out the bike you can do a search on a blacked out pipe that was talked about here in the past, it's a full system for under $300 if I recall correctly. I'm not recommending it, I have no experience with it, just saying. Stay frosty and keep Austin normal! 😉

Thanks! Good to see some Austin representation here. Do y'all take your bikes to Cars 'n Coffee?

And remember, we all wish we had kept our first bike!

Nah.  It was beautiful, but too big for me.  I'll always regret it if I let the 07 go, though.

If I'm honest I really don't miss the used Honda CM450E that  was my first bike. It had no soul.

It had no power, handling or style either but the price was right at the time and beat the alternative of taking the bus whereever I wanted to go.

Representative photo... not mine.
