  2. Good morning all, I've been riding a little over a year, with the R3 being my first motorcycle. It is a fabulous machine that has served as a reliable learning platform, but I've been considering selling the bike and moving to one of the naked variety. I am wanting to upgrade because I want a little more power and torque off the line, passing potential on the freeway, etc. Not interested in a true supersport like the R6 since I do city riding and commuting and have no use for the top-end power. I'd like something I can take my wife on (R3 is too small for this), and go for longer treks while remaining comfortable. I at first considered the FZ-09, but its pretty powerful and I'm not really looking to do a bunch of wheelies or anything crazy. Seems like the FZ-07 is the sweet spot for me. Any thoughts on the FZ-07 as a second/upgrade motorcycle for a city commuter that rides the freeway occasionally?

  7. How much do you love your FZ-07 on a scale of 1 - 10? One being not at all, and ten being it's the best bike ever. Personally I would rate my FZ an 8 overall--it does have some suspension shortcomings. That being said, I would rate it a 10 in the fun department. How would you rate your FZ?

    Before and After

Here are two photos of the same location: the first one from a ride I took in late November, the second from late January--looks a little different now LOL.

    FZ-07 Wish List?

With Christmas fast approaching, I was wondering what fellow members have on their FZ-07 wish list. Here's my list: 1) Heated grips 2) Front suspension upgrade 3) Rear suspension upgrade 4) Aftermarket exhaust 5) ECU flash to go with aforementioned exhaust It will probably only take me about five to ten Christmases to complete this list. LOL

    Late Season Ride

Still hanging on even though the riding season is winding down here. Went for a ride along the Saint John River road today. It was overcast, cool and blustery, but I still enjoyed the ride immensely.
  14. If you could make only one suspension mod to your FZ-07, and had to spend as little money as possible, what mod would you choose? I ask this question because I am a bit thin of wallet and would like to know what fellow members think is the single most cost effective suspension mod.
  15. Yamaha describes the FZ-07 cylinders this way: Direct ceramic composite plated cylinder uses "liner less" bores. ceramic coating sprayed directly on the aluminum block, eliminating the liner & reducing weight excellent heat dissipation for consistent power delivery coating enhances the thin film of oil between the cylinder & piston, reducing friction & increasing power I was wondering if anyone has any insight as to the longevity of this type of cylinder configuration? Are they better, worse, or just different than steel lined cylinders?
  16. Hi there, I have several questions to get some information. I want to put a thief alarm system on my motorcycle. I have already bought "SPY 5000M" alarm system and this system. There is a protection feature against thieves which is known as "remote cut of engine". In order to activate this system I would like to learn that. Where is "starting circuit cut-off relay" place in motorcycle. Could you please send a picture as an example? When we look "remote cut of engine" in 2014 FZ-07 / MT-07 wiring diagram, it is like red-black cable. At this point I would like to have the same for 2015 FZ-07 / MT-07 model? On the other hand, is this diagram the same for the two motorcycle models (2014 and 2015 FZ-07 / MT-07)? Thank you in advance for your help.
  17. I am still running the stock Michelin Pilot Road 3 tires that came on my bike. I have been keeping them at the recommended pressures of 33 psi front and 36 psi rear. However I find that these pressures give a very harsh ride. I have also noticed members stating on various threads that they run lower pressures for better ride, handling, tire wear etc. So I was wondering fellow members: What tires and tire pressures do you run?
  18. The FZ-07 has very pronounced engine braking and I for one like it. It gives you an alternate way to slow down when hard braking isn't required. How do you feel about the FZ's engine braking?

    High Test Gas?

In my neck of the woods regular gas "may contain up to 10% ethanol" and high test contains no ethanol. The manual says that 10% ethanol is OK for the FZ-07, but what I am wondering is there a downside to running high test in the FZ and avoiding the ethanol altogether?
  20. I recently installed a Puig Naked New Generation Touring windscreen and would like to share my first impressions of this product. For reference I am 5'9" tall and my FZ is completely stock. What I noticed most was that the wind blast seems to strike a very specific area--right at my shoulders. I tested this by focusing on wind noise and buffeting: in the normal upright riding position, wind noise and buffeting seemed to be about the same as stock from the neck up, with reduced buffeting in the torso area. However, if I crouched forward just a bit, the helmet wind noise increased dramatically and helmet buffeting also got a bit worse. It looks like this windscreen will work well in the upright or the fully tucked position, but anything in between might be a bit of a rough ride.
