Help Me Choose a new Exhaust.

Feel free to toss your opinion in though. I'm sure exhaust topics will be searched until the end of time.

It only has a mid-pipe on it rn. The noise is insane.

Well, I think the poll speaks for itself. I will be picking up a full Akra Carbon system this weekend. I found one two hours away from me brand new for less than 700 bucks.
  4. The choice is narrowed down to an Akra Carbon or an SC-Project Conic. Other suggestion I'll look at of course though. If you've seen my crashed/repair thread here Then you know I have hairline cracks in my header pipes. I've decided instead of a band-aid fix. I'll just upgrade to a full system.

Does anyone know if the stock exhaust header pipes are aluminum or Austenitic stainless that is coated? They exhibit no magnetism so I'm assuming they are aluminum being that it is lighter and cheaper than stainless, but I thought I would ask. I was thinking about welding the cracks in the headers; however, the material is exceptionally thin and I fear I would burn through it easily. Would you guys attempt to fix the cracks with the aforementioned JB weld product? Buy a junk exhaust system off eBay for the header pipes, or try and send back the new cannister for the slip-on for a refund, and buy a full system. I really like the look of the SC Projects exhaust or the Akra Carbon. Thanks all. I'll see if I can update with photos of the cracks.

UPDATE; All exciting and wonderful things. Heidi has been doing well and is coming up on her 8,000 miles checkup. I've got a rear fender delete put on. Put on a replacement mid-pipe after it failed for some magical reason, a new canister is in the mail. I also learned that my two stock exhaust hears both hair hairline cracks in them so I have to deal with that. I'll probably use J-B Weld 37901 ExtremeHeat Metallic Paste Adhesive and then header wrap the headers. I bought the bike in Sept 17", and gave it it's first bath today.

I ordered a new one already. I was unaware you could straighten them. Thats good information. I did, and I looked for any separation or distress in the welds. Yeah, I ordered a combo Venom stand set. They are super handy and so far for the price have been very stable. You seem to have bad luck. Hopefully, yours aren't bent.

You know I've inspected it as well as I can and I don't see any obvious frame damage. Even with the fork being bent the bike rode nicely.

My left fork is fine and and dandy. The right one not so much ........ I was getting the bike all put back so I took it for a test ride, everything was fine. I took it to school and work. That is when I noticed that the tire alignment with the front fender was totally out of whack. So I pulled both the forks and the right one is trash.

Update Time, and the news is not good.
  13. I want one! No doubt it will outclass the FZ-07; however, it will also cost more. Personal decisions people have to make for themselves. I'm all about power to weight.

I agree, and time for an update. I'm taking the front wheel off tomorrow to have it sent to a reputable high-speed shop that does repairs. On that subject does anyone have a good way to hold the bike up with the front wheel off ? Do spools and a front stand still work with no wheel ?

Her name is Heidi, and not too bad. My total estimated cost to fix everything if the forks are fine which I think they are is going to be about 750.
