    Clutch is slipping

I know what a slipping clutch feels like on a manual shift car and at 50K I thought it felt the same so I took it in. Mechanic confirmed it needed to be replaced, but from what people are telling me, it's probably not a slipping clutch. Because mine seems to slip only when bike is cold and only in first gear. It's fine after the bike warms up. Someone said it's usually the highest gear that slips first. Plus people are saying clutch plates can last upto 100K+. So honestly, I think what I might do is just change the oil and check the clutch cable. Yea, I bought the bike new in 2015. My commute is 160 miles round trip. High mileage but low shifting. It doesn't make sense.

    Clutch is slipping

Oh man, it looked easy on YouTube and there was no mention of a clutch basket holding tool nor did he say to put it 6th gear. I'm glad I asked. Ok I'm gonna need to research this a bit more before I start. Thanks.
  3. My clutch is slipping at 75,000 Miles. I had the shop replace the friction plates at 50,000 miles, but this time I wanna use aftermarket plates and springs, which already came in. I'm waiting for the gasket to arrive and then I want to try and replace it myself. I'm not a mechanic, just a cheap bastard. If you have any tips for me, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

    Coolant Options

I flushed my radiator today and used a combination of water wetter, anti-freeze, and distilled water. Temp stays around 176.

At a 4 way stop and forgot to downshift beforehand

Been there. I've had it neutral and not able to get 1st. If you let off the clutch really gently until you hear it click, then you should be good to downshift again.
  6. Added these 10mm Mirror risers... one the best mods to date. Highly recommend. After install, I no longer see any part of my arm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KLOY6GI/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Lo warning

    What he said.
  8. I got the strip instead of the belt. So the picture that I posted is all you can see. From the front you can't see any of it. I think it was on sale for $20 so it's not bad for that price. I only have to charge it every few days.
  9. Gotta link this good stuff for us! http://www.halobelt.com/buy-led-safety-belt/halo-strip Bloody terrible uninformative website. Yea. When I first got it and turned it on it appeared that the strip only lit up right next to the power switch. But in the dark it looks much better.
  10. I'm currently using the Halo strip. From the markets of the halobelt.
  11. It did do at least 50k... I changed it at 54k.

    Jerky throttle?

Yea I have the same problem when I have my son on the back. I just use the clutch more and try to anticipate stopping farther back.
  13. *summer. Oh I also changed the clutch plates at 54k. It was slipping in first just at startup. The mechanic said usually the clutch goes at around 30k but mine are freeway miles.
  14. It was off by .001 for only one at both 27k and 54k. I commute 80 miles one way. Slow in the morning fast in the evening provided I have enough gas. Northern California weather is usually 35-65 in the winter and 80-105 in the dinner.
  15. I changed the spark plugs same time as the valve adjustment and they looked fine at 27k. I changed the fork oil, brake fluid, coolant at 30k. Replaced the chain, sprockets, and tires every 15 to 20k. Oil changes every 3k. EBC brake pads, DID chain, LED headlight.
