KGreene
I've been trying to find information on colored REAR (not front) turn signals in IL and haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone know if you can have colored rear turn signals and if so, what colors are allowed?

Premium Member so1102 Posted June 15, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted June 15, 2015 short answer: turn signals aren't required AT ALL, but if you do have them, they must be amber (or red if on the rear)
KGreene
Thanks guys that was exactly what I was looking for. I did find out that in May this year they made an amendment allowing motorcycles to be equipped with "auxiliary accent lights...Provides that the auxiliary accent lights shall not be red or white or oscillating, rotating, or flashing.." I've got the blurple and my plan was to integrate some blue LEDs for turn signals and accent lights so 1 out of the 2 isn't bad.
wscraig76
Also... to add to what so1102 has already stated.... if you have turn signals, they must also be functioning. This was part of a written test taken during a msfa course
Bucaro_FZ07
maybe a little late, but, it can be helpful http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/rights/State-Laws.aspx?stateid=16 you can check motorcycle laws in general state by state.
