Problem installing bar end mirrors

Recommended Posts

So I just bought some cheapo bar end mirrors to see how i like the visibility.

But after removing the oem bar ends i noticed that on both sides the grip is quite a lot longer than the bar and that there is a thread inside the bar.

So both these things prevent me from installing these mirrors. It can't be that im supposed to cut the grip and throttle body down to size since i find the grips pretty narrow as they are.

So if you can tell me what im doing wrong id be greatfull :-D

Greenhound386 came up with a rather simple solution by mounting the mirrors on the inner part of the bar-end weights. He figured out that using a short length of copper tube like a spacer over the bar-end's threads allowed the mirror install to be solid and secure. Here's his full post... link

I followed his method for my bar-end mirrors and they've been rock solid for over a thousand miles. Kudos to @greenhound386 for his pioneering on this!

Here's a pic of the copper tube as a spacer on the bar-end from @oscardms

I used these to mount my bar end mirrors Rhinomoto

Those would not work for me, since the mounting point of the mirror i have can't be taken apart.
